What you describe are symptoms of flashing wrong recovery. If you had stock 4.2.1 ROM (we still don't have 4.2.2) before installing -jb version of TWRP, then you bricked your device. Also you didn't even need to search to see sticked thread [WARINING] DO NOT install a recovery from 4.1 on a 4.2...

There is nothing wrong with your tablet. They added some gradients to the backgrounds in 4.2 and what you see is just colour banding visible on the cheap screens used by Asus.
