I haven't tested with A11, but in A10 I had to install the FlameGapps addon package "Google Search + Assistant" in order to get "Hey, Google" recognition to work. Before that it was grayed out and would not allow me to enable it.

That fixed it. I was using a custom kernel, but I just tested and going back to the ROM Kernel fixed the issue. Thanks!

Just be careful, because you can have major issues if your android box and phone are on the same network. The router/switch will potentially route packets to the wrong device, making network access slow and/or unstable.
