I too had this problem. Its because after 2.6 Google doesn't offer location tracking for some countries. So like me u can't use Google now. So yes it's a necessary work around. And yes absolutely nothing to do with the rom Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

Such a nice solid stock ROM this is. been on it since R2. Using the ROM included kernel and I can't complain. Can't remember any freezes since R3. Definitely sleeper ROM. I like the fact that the Dev is keeping it simple an not packing it with features. Keep up the good work. Sent from my...
