Post How to edit build.prop in magisk for hotspot

Since the device is rooted, you can use Root Explorer to modify the file; this is/was the app I used. Root Explorer is a paid app. Supposedly, ES File Explorer File Manager or BuildProp Editor can do the same; these are free.

Post What's the correct way to upgrade to O?

I didn't consider this; I am still new to this whole root and updates being rooted. Good to know I am understanding what I am reading and not losing my mind due to old age :D

Post What's the correct way to upgrade to O?

If phone is rooted, OTA works? I thought if phone is rooted, updates needed to be done manually (i.e., flash). Is this not correct?

Thanks. I will try this once I root Oreo. I am glad to finally find something working with Sprint.

    Post WiFi hotspot on Oreo

Could you link to instructions? I hope this will work on Sprint. I have grandfather unlimited data and have been trying to get hotspot to no avail. I haven't updated to Oreo yet; OTA notification was received earlier today.

Post Yet Another Hotspot Bypass (Nougat OK)

Yay! Replying to my own post. The steps in the OP didn't work on the Pixel XL (NKG47L). I was able to submit the codes to the pixel and those stayed after a reboot. The issue is that can't turn on the hotspot (yes I did turn off mobile/cellular data). The message is "Service not supported...

Post Help enabling hotspot via edit MSL ##data# screen

What is the fall back option if the commands don't work and "messes up" the Pixel? Can I do a factory reset? What is the adb command to see what my current settings are? for global tether_dun_required and global tether_dun_apn This way I can go back if necessary.

Post Yet Another Hotspot Bypass (Nougat OK)

I do have April update; I will wait. In the bold, did you mean March instead of May? Was there suppose to be a link to thread? Thanks

Post Guide: How To Unlock/Root/Flash for Pixel XL (Marlin)

From the first post, it would appear that there are two methods to root: (a) root via twrp/supersu (steps 2 and 3) and (b) root via Fastboot (step 4: This is for users who do not have or want TWRP installed and want to run stock root). Is this correct that there are two methods? If so, what...

Post unlocked bootloader / user data

Great discussion; it gave me a better understanding of the how an unlocked bootloader affects access to user data. My initial concern, after the phone is lost or stolen, was that an unlocked bootloader would allow "easy" access to user data by simply installing custom rom (via the -w in...

Post unlocked bootloader / user data

Thank you all for your input and knowledge dissemination on how a unlocked bootloader affect user data. Not using the -w parameter will keep the user data intact; understood, thank you. If that is the case, will the theft be able to access user data if user data partition is encrypted?

Thread unlocked bootloader / user data

I am concern about access to user data (pictures, videos, emails, app data, etc.) on my unlocked bootloader phone if phone is lost or stolen,. As I understand it, with the bootloader unlocked, one can install custom rom and thus bypass screen lock. Does this mean that with the new OS it can...

Post Is an unlocked bootloader a security vulnerability?

Here is the Android feature I was referring to about needing Google account's password: Factory Reset Protection (FRP) https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/6172890?hl=en Am I correct that this statement "If you have Developer options turned on, you can also turn off device protection...
