I am using the dual SIM variant, but did not try the firmware. What I did was compare the build number of the software with my phone, and it is exactly the same. So I expect this is the same firmware regardless if you have dual or single SIM.

I checked the EU firmware (mirror found on Google at here btw - fast DL, hashes match), and the baseband version is the same as I got in my dual sim phone. Depending on your region, it should be OK.

I get the exact same behaviour on my S6 as I get on my Note 3: if I touch them they will light up, if I touch the screen they will stay off. So I don't think that has changed.
