This firmwares are device specific, not rom specific. They are like drivers of the phone, much the same as drivers on computer we need, we need firmware for phone. For the build, I think you should go for stable build, as dev builds are updated every week and could be buggy.

No, you don't need to update to MIUI v10. Just install latest firmware from here. Which should solve all the problem, if it persist, problem could be something else.

No, this ROM is treble. So try using treble build of kernel.
