I updated to 3.1 and 3.2 by flashing the update.zip and did NOT lose any data on either flash.

After updating to 3.2 with root, I tried USB Mass Storage Watcher OTG and first it complained about an old version of busybox , then after it updated busybox, it would just FC when I plugged in a flash drive.

GPS is one of the biggest reasons I chose the Xoom. The wifi version has a TRUE GPS chip onboard. It's not assisted (rofl) gps, nor cellular triangulation, but a real gps chip and you don't have to buy the 3G version (cough icrap cough) to get it either.
