    Post [ROM][2.2] »» Cognition 4.5.3 «« | The Original Captivate Rom

I really can't help other than to offer that I had the same exact experience. I just ended up downloading the full non-oc 4.2.2 and starting from scratch with Odin. Now it says 4.2.2 in the phone status so I'll see if the battery issues improve over the coming days. Not knowing what DG meant by...

What this guy said! I have updated contacts via TiBu with no problem, but if you don't want to chance it, you can import your contacts to your sd card and then backup that file to your pc. Go to contacts > import/export > export them to your sd card. You can then import this file once your new...

    Post [ROM][2.2] »» Cognition 4.5.3 «« | The Original Captivate Rom

You should read this thread and then it will give you a better idea of how to flash (all the steps) and you can still use AIO's tool, but with a better understanding. Since you are coming from stock eclair, you won't have to do the Odin step. I am not sure on which one to flash as that is up to...

Thanks. Appreciate you clearing things up for me.

Post [STOCK ROM]Use for going back to stock before flashing a custom ROM with minimum risk

Makes sense. Is there ever an instance where those files need to be wiped, though?

Post [STOCK ROM]Use for going back to stock before flashing a custom ROM with minimum risk

:) I did read it, just thought there was something I was missing. I thought there was more to it than people having bad usb ports. You're saying if one does have a bad usb port and flashing gets interrupted, their phone would be bricked with the DG Odin, but with this Odin it would somehow be ok?

Post [STOCK ROM]Use for going back to stock before flashing a custom ROM with minimum risk

Still not sure why one would use this over the DG Odin? Maybe someone can clarify? Here is my scenario. I'm currently on Cognition 3.04 which I flashed from stock. It was my first ROM so I didn't have to go back or do anything with Odin. Now, if I want to flash a new ROM, I plan on using Odin...

    Post yahoo mail push

You can use these settings in the stock mail app to set up Yahoo! mail. It does not allow for true push, but you can set it to poll Yahoo! servers and update frequently if you'd like. Yahoo! Mail Settings Incoming: IMAP Server imap.mail.yahoo.com Security Type SSL Outgoing: SMTP Server...

    Post Browser hardware acceleration?

Just to add what the OP is saying, I am on Cognition 3.04 and I notice the browser is jerky when scrolling and just generally laggy when scrolling or re-sizing. I would say worse than stock in terms of the experience on the page, not talking about load times.

Post [Q] Security concerns using a rooted / ROM'd Captivate

Hmm.. Interesting.... I may take back my argument then! As far as the concerns? I am also on Cognition 3.04 and up until now, I brushed aside the security issues. I had concerns, but hoped the community was strong enough to expose them. There definitely is an inherent risk downloading files...

Post [Q] Security concerns using a rooted / ROM'd Captivate

Point taken. I don't disagree, but the odds say no. I figured he was using hyperbole and didn't really validate with every single person in his address book. The majority of spam e-mails are via spoofing.

Post [Q] Security concerns using a rooted / ROM'd Captivate

While your concerns are rational and I await the answers, I believe they are borne out of a false understanding of what happened to you. When a spam e-mail is sent "from" your e-mail account it is not always the case that the attacker has gained access to your machine or your e-mail account...

Post Super one click put a virus on my computer

So, wait. Is rageagainstthecage harmful, or is it what is done after that exploit that is harmful. I'm referring to this article discussing the viruses found in the Android Marketplace. http://blog.mylookout.com/2011/03/android-malware-droiddream-how-it-works/

Post [Q] Froyo 2.2 - Change in Battery Performance?

The location consent prompt has always been there since eclair and is part of how google collects data on locations and cell towers. Like you said, it pays to turn off unless you're using the maps or other location dependent app.

Post [OFFICIAL] Android 2.2 Update for Captivate Users on 2/24

I believe the swipe to unlock thing is just a new install message for new users. It does disappear after a few uses.
