Is anyone aware of a bug in MIUI where the lockscreen is triggered by loss of mobile or WiFi signal? I'm about to burn this phone if I can't figure this out. The lockscreen pops up about every ten seconds.

You can also press Power and Vol+ and you will feel one vibration, wait for 3 vibrations sequence and that will turn it off.
