If you hit a brick wall unlocking the phone for yourself, the easiest solution is to buy an unlock code from a third party and call it a day. I always use https://www.unlockbase.com/unlock-phone/htc/ when I decide to buy an unlock.

Just set up a pin or lock code. The fingerprint scanner is a nice feature, but it can be unreliable.

Based on the name it's definitely some sort of update file. I'd be a little apprehensive to delete it, but that is a lot of space being taken up.

I'd like to help, but it's tough without seeing the problem. Can you maybe describe the "lines" with more detail? Are they flashing? Are they constant?

Any chance you had a SD card in your phone?

Yeah I had no idea you can change the resolution. I just got the G3 about a week ago myself and honestly I haven't experienced any issues with overheating. The battery life isn't much of an issue, but I make sure to have a charger available in addition to the one in my car so I'm always covered.
