I am sure, there was a problem with the cache or the download ;) just check the md5 hash after you put it on your sdcard ;)

for formatting your internal SD, you can easily go to cwm and then there's a point called format /emmc. If you do this, it will automatically format your internal SD.

1. Download the latest HydraCoreKernel 2. Download the ROM you want to install 3. Go to CWM and flash this Kernel 4. Reboot to Recovery! NOT TO SYSTEM! 5. Do a FullWipe (wiping cache, dalvik, formatting system, preload, etc..) 6. In Recovery flash the ROM. 7. Reboot to System.

Download BetterBatteryStats and look for wakelocks. Also check the applications which might don't let you go to deep sleep.

Yes you can flash an OC kernel but if you don't need it urgently, don't flash it.
