Same here. Used to work on HW+ mode but not after KK update. Now If that mode is selected MX just crashes. Also some video files that used to work using HW mode now they only work in SW mode otherwise the MX player crashes.

I am not rooted on Tmobile US and I get to tether to my Note10.1 2014 tablet no problem. Regular hotspot setup does not work as pointed out after KitKat but I am using Open Garden and I can tether again without the need to root.

That was my initial thought. This is why I am using the 5GHz WiFi band since Bluetooth sits at 2.4GHz (same out of sync result). Also some streaming apps have no problem with audio sync i.e. Youtube, streaming from local NAS video and even streaming from Slingbox. I find it tough to swallow that...
