To get better qualiity install (power saving) and enable viper4androidFX. The biggest problem with sound on miui is that it stutters when the screen is off. I worked around it by changing the governor to interactive 860 min. I know it isn't a fancy solution, but it has worked so far.

click "toggle signature verificatoin" and make sure it is disabled. This did the trick for me in CWM 5.0.2.8.
