Did you try using Flashtool to unlock it? Never done it myself, but it seems pretty simple, and no command line required. https://xperiafirmware.com/unlock-bootloader-sony-xperia/

Post Ways to unlock bootloader of japanese so 02g converted to international d5803?

You only want to install 4.4.4 temporarily, to install a custom recovery, so it doesn't matter what language it is. And I would try installing Dual Recovery without downgrading first. It might work. I don't know. It will work for any OFFICIAL ROM. If you want unofficial, you have to unlock...

Post Ways to unlock bootloader of japanese so 02g converted to international d5803?

You don't need to unlock the bootloader to root. There are several ways to do it, but what I did was: - install dual recovery @ http://nut.xperia-files.com/html/xzdualrecovery-manual.html (you might need to downgrade to stock 4.4.4 first @...

Post Is an Xperia Mini still usable in 2020?

I have Android 4.0.4 in my Mini-Pro, and it's still supported by Whatsapp. I haven't tried/used the other two, though. I still use it as my main phone, since it is very compact and has a physical keyboard. I basically use a mobile phone for text messaging and camera.

If you wanted to flash the latest version of stock ROM, get http://www.flashtool.net/index.php . Included is Xperifirm, which will allow you to choose, download, and package to FTF the latest official ROM. From there, you can use the FTF to flash your phone. Before you do this, you may want to...

I'm not really sure what your problem is, but you can download the latest firmware using Xperifirm from within Flashtool. Since you've already got TWRP installed, you may want to try building your own pre-rooted ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58395100&postcount=71 I think...
