Years later, but maybe it'll help. For me, it was a combo of WIndows and Bitdefender: Under properties of the update file, it said access was blocked due to the file being from another PC - checking the box there and disabling Bitdefender (only one at a time didn't help) solves the issue.

Unfortunately, I fear this won't work. As far as I know, WhatsApp saves to *some* other directory, since it is able to find backups after the app was uninstalled. I had the same problem, but then my old phone died and I lost the messages anyways.. But at least 4 months ago, it didn't work this...

Thanks for the experience anyways. I'd also say get one with wet apply, if you live in europe Invisishields are by far the best I think, at least in Germany others like Skinomis are really expensive to ship. I got myself an Invisishield, and it's really good so far. It covers up the whole area...

I don't think that's possible, not even with JTAG devices. You need someone who already has it installed, and has an interim unlock with file access (Samsung, W1 or JTAG unlocked), they can repack the app. I doubt there's a way to install encrypted apps that aren't available in Store anymore.

Is there any more information on this? Will the API be opened up to normal devs, or will it be Rudy's app or interop unlock? And another question, is there a way to override the swipe up to unlock (and replace it with slide to right etc)? If so, something like this could be possible...

Security is different, apps can't do as much as on android. But iOS is better in this, because capabilities are like in Android: you can see what the apps want prior to installing them, but blocking some of them isn't possible.
