I imagine the process would be similar to what other phones do with root but without an unlocked bootloader: use FlashFire and/or SafeStrap. Devs can get the OTAs and inject root (amongst other stuff) and users can flash the modified packages despite the signature not matching LG's.

That seems to be a security thing. The install button does not permit anything to overlay it. Disable any apps that might be overlaying, such as Lux.
