Thanks for the perseverance will give it a go. One question does your tablet have the sony backup and restore program on it? Mine doesn't and I cant get any of the posted apk's to run.

I've tried both the apk's from this thread on my Sony Tablet S running ICS and both give the " Unfortunately Backup and Restore has stopped working" message. Any help much appreciated.

I have the same problem but moving the file to c:\ didn't work for me- same result

In fact it seems that the root didn't work just deleted the apps etc. Would still like to root so any advice appreciated.
