That happened to me twice. Once a week after opening it, and a factory restore fixed it. It happened again about 6 months later, and I had to send it back.

I'll pledge $25 for root access to the stock KK rom.

I seemed to have resolved it. I pressed and HELD the power button down until it restarted itself. Finger input seems to work now. Weird.

So today I couldn't swipe unlock my phone. I pulled the battery, let it sit, no luck. Pulled the battery again, pulled the SIM card and SD card, let it sit, still no luck. Upon power up after that, I had the idea of trying with the stylus. That worked. Everything has worked flawlessly...

Any update on this? I know it's been forever, but I was just recently given an A100 that's doing the exact same thing (sitting at "Shutting Down). I've been able to reflash via the update.zip, but with no luck.

any updates to this? My i717 note does this on my home PC (Win 7 Ultimate x64), but works properly on my office machine (Win 7 Pro x64).

2.3.5 borked my wifi tethering, and I can't get it to function anymore. I've been looking for ways to go back to 2.2. If you really like wifi tethering, I'd stay away from Gingerbread.

Apparently this only works sometime. Sometimes the tethering works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm an nTelos re-seller. They tell me that since it's "not officially supported" that they cannot help.

For an update if anybody runs across this, if I select "Routing Fix" in the Wifi Tether settings, it works.
