Thread [Q] What's the max charge voltage? (not as dumb as it sounds?)

Yes Voltage, not current. I built a custom PCB that lets my tab plug into my car's audio system. It has a 5V switcher on it but I'm going to add a zener diode as a backup in case the switcher fails so the tab doesn't get hit with 12V from the car. Ifixit's teardown shows that the tab uses a...

    Post P1000/P1010 Charging current?

I should add that the voltage is indeed 5v so its not a droop issue and while connected to my circuit, the tab is in usb debugging mode. Any thoughts? Is there a hardware specific forum I should be posting this in?

    Thread P1000/P1010 Charging current?

The stock charger says 2000mA on it. I built a circuit using a 5V 3A switching regulator to plug into my car. But when I plug it in, the tab displays the x over the battery icon indicating insufficient current. It does seem to be trickle charging but what am I missing to get the tab to enter...

Post Android Tablet in car (bmw)

Right now I'm working on making sure all of the commands work. Progress is slow since Java really isn't the best language for manipulating individual bytes (although that could also be my lack of experience). Unfortunately if you have a 335i, none of this will help you. I think all of the...

Post What ROM to use for my Tab

Do you have the wifi only version? Overcome's website states their ROM will NOT work on the tab if it doesn't have a sim card. If you did indeed install it on the P1010 version, please post more details. Thanks

Well seems like someone has come up with something. If you have a BMW/Audi/Merc you can get a Dynavin replacement head unit that runs android http://www.dynavin.com/index.php I'm not sure how customizeable it is but its out there.

    Post [Q] P1010 Custom Roms / Root

I'll chime in. I just rooted using super one click v1.9. It was done in about 90 seconds and I wasn't sure it worked but sure enough, there was a new super user app on it and I got an adb shell up with access to the apk's. Success. I then ran the one click lag fix v2.2 which increased my...

Post Samsung Galaxy Tab Dock (quick) Teardown notes

My plan is to take it up a notch. I want to tap in to my car's instrument bus and be able to reset the trip counter/mileage/etc and control the tab with the steering wheel buttons. It'll be a couple months before that happens... Anyway, I ordered a bunch of stuff from digikey to extend the...

    Post Android Cars

Thanks for the thanks...I think? Anyway I'm working on this project for my BMW. BMW's from the mid 90's to the mid 00's have a serial bus that controls all entertainment functions (volume control, mode, HVAC). It's been throughly hacked with most of the codes available around the internet. I'm...

Post Samsung Galaxy Tab Dock (quick) Teardown notes

I think I'm good now. Here are the pics If anyone needs this, disassembly is very easy. Just peel off the rubber bottom and expose the 4 small phillips screws. Use a knife or very thin flat blade to separate the bottom plate from the cover. There are 2 tabs on each side holding it together...

    Thread Android Cars

How come we haven't seen a wave of aftermarket double DIN android based radio replacements yet? Android seems like the obvious platform for a new head unit. Foxconn should be able to hack the Moto Xoom's guts in to something within a week. Its even called the Xoom! Come on Mazda. All it needs is...
