I never opted for 4.4.4 and am still running only 4.4.2 rooted, xposed, and safestrapped. I would say be patient and see what happens with 5.0 before making any further actions?

I prefer to root. look at apps like titanium backup, intelli3g, performance profile, greenify and the firewall function in avast.
