It does support 64GB card. Both my i777 & i9100 are using it. Not 100% sure it has to be formatted to FAT32. I formatted them using FAT32 because my i777 (running CM 10.1.3) couldn't recognize the default exFAT. HTH.

Sort out which device you actually have, i9100 or i9100g. Then go to the device forum and search for boot loop. AFAIK, i9100 and i9100g are different in hardware.
