If you want to install apps on the sd card, the sd must be mounted as internal memory, I think. If you need root you have to use magisk now because there is no addonsu for LOS 17.1.

My SD card is 64 GB and is set up as external memory. I use Magisk only for the superuser rights and I have enabled the SD in the developer options. This is all I need to use the SD with many apps.
