Thread The nougat kernel super easy to modify

Just wanted to let developers know that I had been trying to modify the v10 kernel to include external USB wifi adapter support on previous versions lollipop and marshmallow with no success. But with nougat I was able to do it. Which means I was able to chroot kali and utilize monitor mode on...

Yes I did. I been working on it tirelessly trying to make it work. No success so far, even with the notes you supplied. Tried different toolchains including the one you recommended. Even put the ARCH/CROSS_COMPILE variables directly into bashc file. Tried with different roms. I'm currently...

And I modified it to > #include "mh1/msm_mh1.h" because mh1 is the sub directory of the directory the msm_sensor.c file is in.

I think it is the same. Odd that it's not working.

Ok. Good. I Did do that. Just making sure that was the right thing to do ---------- Post added at 03:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:53 PM ---------- Don't worry. Take your time. I'm not in any rush to get the custom kernel.

Question, did anyone have to fix a driver "/media/platform/msm/camera_v2/sensor/msm_sensor.c" in order for it to compile?

Did everything recommended, and still not successful. So, what I'm going to do is work backwards. I'm going to compile a kernel without configuring it at all, and see if a vanilla compile will work. Maybe some reason the usb wifi adapter drivers are causing the problems.

Maybe my issues are related to this. I'm going to try and flash this particular kernel and see if I get boot loop ---------- Post added at 01:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:29 AM ---------- I flashed this kernel just fine. Also- the rom I'm currently running is...

Alright. I'm going to try and add the export variables to bash (I think I know what you're talking about) I won't move the config file. I'm also going to start with a new kernel download just in case the download is corrupt. I will also modify the config with xconfig. Are you using the same...

And for personal educational purposes, is this the proper way of compiling the kernel? : 1: Generate Config: sudo make ARCH=arm64 pplus_tmo_us-perf_defconfig 2: Menu config: sudo make ARCH=arm64 menuconfig 3: Move/Rename .config to arch64/configs to pplus_tmo_us-perf_defconfig sudo cp .config...

Oh wow. If you could do that it would be awesome. I'm going to keep trying on my end, just so that I can learn how to mod a kernel but in the end id rather use a kernel that someone more experienced created. The drivers I'm interested in are: Navigate trough "Networking Support" ->...

I dunno if this is the appropriate place to post this question; if not then sorry about this. I'm trying to modify the kernel so I can enable support for wifi usb adapters (alfa in my case). This is my first attempt at modifying a kernel. I set myself up a virtualized ubuntu, setup all the...
