Why would you want to do an OTA? Just grab the newest ROM and flash it. I've seen a 6.0 XT1092 ROM somewhere on these forums.

You should be able to recover via fastboot if you have the factory image, there are some floating around here. If it's an official one you don't even need to unlock your phone because the image is signed by Moto. Here is a link to an official guide on how to flash...

A lot of stuff doesn't work with lollipop anymore, because of security/permission related changes. Maybe some stuff will work again in the future with rooted devices, some maybe never.

Mine worked on KitKat and still work on L, I can see them in the dark and the display turns on when I wave above the bottom part of the phone.

You could try to flash the KitKat Rom that works with the OTA first, than apply the OTA.

Strange, my version Nr is 6.2.10.1, updated 11.12.14 on problems so far. Maybe it's because it's a German version.
