It is optional. If you want to perform clean install then you can go to TWRP main menu, Click on Wipe and swipe to factory reset

Or you can totally skip this step.

But it is always better to take a backup of your data --> Here is the guide to backup your data

Yes i know,but the Mate8 is from my Wife,she kill me with losing Data,hehe,for me is always better a Full Wipe before i install a new Full Update on my Honor Note 8

i'm on L29c185b580 i've tried to install via twrp it says recovery error 7 ' is that because the c185 ??? and what if deleted the asserts from the rom will it work or i'll brick my phone help please

No its because its not a twrp zip , a
If it was it would have letters PV after the title. Must be done over firmware finder.

Yes,i have a Honor Note 8 and it's the same,since the last Nougat Update does not work to flash in Twrp.

Absolutely. Usually it's 1-2 weeks from it's appearance on FF.

I have twisted mate 8 rom and I am interested in upgrading.. downloaded 580 but wasn't able to flash in using twrp .. read somewhere that I would need rom-pv file so downloaded 560-pv but have a question before flashing it.. will it make the phone full stock ?? I mean will it also remove twrp recovery and flash the original one ?

So there's a solution to update a rooted Mate 8 device?
My Mate with root and TWRP recovery installed, has just recieved the OTA advise about B582 in system update but if I accept the update the device reboot in TWRP and fails the installation.
