On android 4.4 Kirk at you also need to put SELinux in permissing mode in order to have proper write support with NTFS.
Open terminal and write "su setenforce 0 ". Or you can even use the app "SetEnforce Toggle", get it on play store.
To those on the 5.0 bootloader, this is significantly untested, and currently unsupported.

Dirty flashed from (a restore of) CleanRom 5.1 with no problem, just Photo (selected in aroma) not appearing in launcher, but otherwise working. Reinstalled G+ from google play solved the issue.
