These ROMs cannot be flashed with Stock Recovery.Hey there,
I have a XT1039 in Brazil (retail), then I flashed the 4.4.4 from XT1040, after that installed the zip 5.1 from this thread (from XT1040 as well). All was going smooth, but something has to happen lol. I noticed that my phone is droping the wifi connection after a while with the screen turned off, and only connects again when I turn the screen on again. And of course it is set to keep the wifi always turned on in the advanced settings.
I'm still on warranty, so I don't want to unlock the bootloader. Do you guys know if when the 5.1 for XT1039 (Brazilian Retail) becomes avaible could I flash the zip on top of the 5.1 that I'm using right now without unlocking the bootloader, using the stock recovery?

I'm not sure what happened in your case, but I suspect the ROM is only installed partially or not installed at all.
I get numerous issues reported about the Stock Optimized ROMs and it's almost always nothing to do with the ROM. User has either not flashed correctly, used a bad recovery or has not done a factory reset in custom recovery and / or not wiped /data (userdata).
Thanks for the answer.
Even the stock roms(untouched) cannot be flashed with stock recovery? oO
I followed a tutorial. I flashed the stock 4.4.4 of XT1040 using mfastboot commands, then following the tutorial I rebooted on fastboot mode and flashed the 5.1 stock (zip archive) using the stock recovery, finished the installation I did the wipe. I don't know where I did wrong. Sorry I'm a little noob at this.
You need to flash a custom recovery before flashing 5.1.
Twrp for exemple.

Try to update the recovery.trying to flash XT1040 untouched version onto my XT1040 canadian carrier device and it fails, do i have to wait for the canadian veriant?
Lost101 modify the dialer but it was broken so he restored the Motorola's original dialer in v1.0aHi, I see in 1.0a we have "original dialer restored"... that means we had a customized dialer in optimized 1.0? Is it the stock Lollipop dialer or Motorola customized it? Thanks, I'm simply curious
Yes. Unlocking Bootloader is essential if you want to live life to the max.
In v1.0, I added a Stock Dialer that included a search nearby function. While it worked on Moto G Falcon, Peregrine was another matter. v1.0a replaces that Dialer with the one that is included in the 5.1 Stock Firmware image.Hi, I see in 1.0a we have "original dialer restored"... that means we had a customized dialer in optimized 1.0? Maybe there are still some left over files from CM12.1. Try formatting /data. This will wipe internal storage entirely, including any app data, photos, music etc.i have the xt1040 and i flashed the xt1040 stock rom using twrp, i was on cm12.1 btw. I also flashed the radio firmware for it but when it boots i get "unfortunately dmservice has stopped working" and it won't recognise the sim. what should i do?

How have you wiped? Have you actually formatted /data? This is not part of a normal Factory Reset.Already read it, restarting recovery doesn't change anything, wiping many times too, still can't finish install...

Thanks. That means Motorola slightly customized the stock Lollipop dialer? In v1.0, I added a Stock Dialer that included a search nearby function. While it worked on Moto G Falcon, Peregrine was another matter. v1.0a replaces that Dialer with the one that is included in the 5.1 Stock Firmware image.
I have the same problem and I fix it by updating the recovery.Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> selected Dalvik Cache, Data, Cache and System and swiped to execute.
I just seen that Wipe -> Format Data seems different... and seems to fix (and wipe the sdcard, yay ...)
