Project Treble is a subdivision of the Android operating code to make it modular. With The GSI or Generic System Images you can have the custom ROM that you prefer with the stability of stock kernel.

What you need to try one of listed GSI
-Unlocked bootloader
-A computer with drivers and fastboot installed
-An external SD card inside your Moto one

Guide to boot the TWRP recovery
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...-twrp-t3875740

How to install every GSI you want
-Download and unpack one ROM from listed one (inside the archive there is a .IMG file, unpack it)
-Download gapps from https://opengapps.org/ (arm64, 9.0, pico)
-Download my flashable overlayfix.zip, you need it to install the notch status bar overlay
-Put gapps and overlay inside the external SD card
-Boot in TWRP and make a backup of your current stock ROM in the external SD card (/data is encrypted so is no possible to backup internal memory)
-Reboot into bootloader and flash the downloaded .img with fastboot:
fastboot flash system nameofthefile.img
-reboot in TWRP, FORMAT DATA (button in Wipe section, in the botton on the right, after you have to write yes) and wipe art cache,
-install gapps zip and overlay zip (Install section, select external storage as source)
-reboot and wait 6/7 minutes
Enjoy

Tested Roms
Lineage OS 16: Good Rom, fast to boot and also very great battery time

How can I know if the patch and ROM are compatible?
The overlay patch needs to be especific to deen and the system img just be GSI a/b slot, right?

I tested MSM Extended and OmniROM, both booted and worked just fine with the overlayfix

Try again but instead of flash write boot, so:
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-deen-3.img

Error fix above. Read the error and look at the actual threads as we said how to do so. Stop being lazy and take the time to check for 3 minutes. Is-logical:recovery: not found. recovery' (bootloader) Invalid partition name recovery. The recovery partition doesn't exist on the deen. Its merged with boot. Maybe if you read the forums a bit you would have found out...

When I try to install Magisk on these ROMs, I end up with bootloop. Is it just me?
Otherwise they're fine.

Magisk causing bootloops in gsi rom Motorola one
Yea had that problem before found a fix. Flash the gsi first then do a factory reset - w in fastboot or do a reset on twrp. Reboot back into twrp recovery flash magisk then reboot. Once the fully booted and completed the set up process open magisk. DON'T FLASH the set up zip (flashing it causes bootllops. After saying no to the set up zip. Open settings within the magisk app and DISABLE magisk Hide. Then go back to the start page of magisk and install the most upto date magisk zip. Enabling magisk hide will cause a bootloop for whatever reason
