For those with reboot and sod :

When flashing any kernel over other kernel the cleanest way of doing so is wiping system and caches.

I go to recovery wipe caches then system only then I proceed to flash ROM gapps theme and lastly kernel.

Now boot your phone and everything should run fine.

Good advice

kernels ; battery ; ROM ; gov/sched
Now with summaries in the first posts. Convenient for XDA app users!

I do this and I got my first SOD ever, or what I'm guessing is one. Screen went off while I was in call (call was over anyway so it didn't matter). I thought it reboot on me due to 1.2ghz overclock or something, but I couldn't turn it on. I left it in my pocket for 30min while I drove home. I pulled it out and it was making a small beeping sound while warming up considerably. Finally pulled the battery and reboot. My wallpaper somehow changed to one I've never seen before and my battery was at 3% (started at 60% that day).

I'm using the beta build that was posted by the developer, which has the voodoo colours green tint fix, but not the new release which has the different boot animation.

Otherwise, I am very pleased with this kernel, and I'm using it with pixel rom. The battery life with this combination is outstanding, and performance is good when it doesn't have to ramp up the cpu. I may have to play around with the scheduler and governor a bit.

Anyway, worth it to flash over the latest version, or should I wait for the next one?

Ok this kernel seemed very fast but....

>>BEWARE<<
Had CodenameAndroid 1.5.5 on a Nexus S.
Flashed Air Kernel, seemed very fast. Tried to benchmark it at 1.1 GHz, all went well. Benchmark at 1.2 GHz, CRASH!
When the phone rebooted, launcher was reset and many apps would not open (FC). Tried to reflash kernels (Air/Matrix), wipe cache/Dalvik etc but to no avail. Had to wipe and reflash... Beware.

Edit:
AAARGH! This issue caused by Air Kernel persists even after a kernel change!!! I had to wipe..
It's really a pity because it's really smooth..

You're not alone. I had the same problem. Make sure you always had a backup. ;)

was using 3.5 then upgraded but had reboots and blank outs on home screen/black outs in apps.
oddly slacker started bugging out and would start fine then start playing really fast like in fast forward (only slacker tho)
reverted back to 3.5 and everything seems fine. may try it again but maybe from a clean start. Ive been meaning to redo my phone clean anyway.

I am trying to enable/disable some of the modules of this kernel without success.

I have created the following script:

#!/system/bin/sh

echo 1 > /sys/class/misc/touchwake/enabled
echo 400000 > /sys/class/misc/touchwake/delay
echo 0 > /sys/class/misc/deepidle/enabled

I push it via adb in /system/etc/init.d , chmod 755 and everything else needed.

If i run the script manualy, everything works as expected but if i reboot the values return to their defaults.

What am i doing wrong? Does air kernel control these settings(touchwake, deepidle, etc) on another file? Inside init.d i do not se another script that has commands responsible for these.

EDIT:

problem solved by installing busybox.

Well, I don't know where to post this, I have read some issue where Nexus S screen is unresponsive while receiving call. Since I am using Air Kernel, I decided to post this here.

As per my reading via this page, I noticed that there is a fix by modifying kernel (by changing parameters of the screen driver for noise and touchscreen threshold).

First, is anyone else having this issue on Nexus S? If the above method really works, maybe it's a good thing to implement this in this kernel.

Just sharing

Tried to OC, got a freeze with one of the clock speeds, don't remember which. Maybe 1200 MHz. Also got a weird bug only once thou, the screen contrast went high while the brightness decreased. Then reboot.
I have the i9023 Nexus S and I'm on 65 fps version.

Been running 3.6 since release day and no reboots or freezes, but if my phone loses signal it won't come back on unless I reboot. It doesn't do it all the time so I can't seem to replicate it. I'm thinking it might be deep idle but not sure, I'm going to keep testing.

I want to report that the latest v3.6 is working flawlessly for me. No reboots or freezes what so ever. I'm using 100-1100MHz, 110% LiveOC, Deadline, Lazy, SOMF ON, Deep Idle ON, BLN ON, Touchwake ON and default voltages on my 9023 with stock ICS. This is an amazing kernel, many thanks r_data!

I've just cleared this thread of the last few posts of utter ****.

Know and understand the GPL, I could copy anyone's kernel source, change a little and release it as my own, providing I release my source. Thats the whole point of Open Source & the GPL.

Its not to enable people to "rip off" the work of others, but to enable us to improve upon what we have. So unless you wish to report the failure to comply with the GPL, which XDA takes seriously, go troll on the iPhone forums.

xda-developers is here to foster and further development, not to hinder it & drive away talented developers/users. I will have no hesitation in getting rid of those members who stand in the way.

Thanks to the community for understanding.
Any questions PM me, lets get this thread back on-topic.
