I think the reason why the internal resolution is always 1080p is because of the TV output via the dock since most TVs will have 1080p and currently the switch screen won´t turn off inside the dock, this propably means it doesn´t change the resolution and does only "mirror" the switch screen to the TV.
As soon as they can fix this, i´m pretty sure the resolution and density will be right for handheld mode (or call it "android tablet" mode).
For me there´s no benefit since i never use the dock at home, only for mariokart sessions with friends or family at their TV´s because i don´t have one and it doens´t make much sense to wire everything up to my pc screen to play emulators on the switch i also can run in much better speed on my existing pc, so having a dedicated android tablet with dockable controllers is much more of interest.

Did you try the free version aswell?
I really want to test it if it even works because spending 10 bucks is a lot for an android emulator that uses stolen code

Just one simple thing. As mentioned in the guide, you first needed to enable "developer options". Then IN the developer options, flip a switch for " advanced reboot". Once done, you'll see the option to boot into recovery (aka TWRP in this case) after holding the power button and tappinf reboot.
This doesn´t work either, the screen turns black and from there nothing else happens.
It is impossible to boot to twrp since the switch is no real android device and doesn´t know what to do with the command "reboot to recovery" .
It´s like you try to boot into recovery mode on your pc running android-x86
It will just reboot the whole system or do nothing at all.
