In my opinion it's the best phone ever made. I am in the second device now and keep walking.

And I still can't find a suitable upgrade.
The S8 would have been my pic if it had a removable battery. I don't prefer on screen keys but I could have overlooked that and given it a chance. Same goes for other phones. The Note 4 is extremely hard to part with for me! This is by far my hardest upgrade

I did the upgrade for my Note 4!

Had the same problem as you all: there is no "smart" phone after the Note 4. Got a S7 for my wife and 1st I was happy and a bit jealous.
I liked the evolution of the phones as they got more and more a "whole in one" thing: phone, compass, camera, notebook, calendar, TV remote, tablet (the Note), Videorecorder and videoplayer...
The S7 is a fast and nice device, but compared to the Note 4 less smarter and multifunctional: Non removable battery, no irblaster, I couldn't even find s-beam... it's an "S"-device! Had to send pictures via bluethooth... even my S3 can use s-beam or did I couldn't find it?
I would be very happy with a Note 4s [emoji106] with a better fingerprint scanner ufs flash and a newer cpu/gpu.

So my upgrade phone is:
A kranich 9600mAh battery and tpu case and a zerolemon 10000mAh battery (don't use the case) for the Note 4 and still waiting.
But with less hope everyday. Probably will have to buy another one as backup?!

I can't find a replacement either. Fast enough, very good display, removable battery, microSD, great camera, good community, and, above all, S-pen.
S-pen has become absolutely necessary to me, so it looks that I'll have to wait for the next Note and then wait some more for it to get cheaper.
If I loose my phone tomorrow or if it breaks, I'll probably go for a Oneplus 3T, but I'll seriously consider to buy a Note 4 for a second time.

after my 910T died, I have tried several phones...about 6 or 7.....after the note 4 everything else feels like crap....today I got another Note 4 and it just feels like home

trust me....for all of us who love our notes....it will be impossible to replace, there will always be something bad with another device

Can you elaborate on what phones you've tried/compared to your note 4?

Unfortunately my note 4 took a fall and landed on a jagged rock (serves me right for holding it in my mouth using the flashlight) - Anyway, I ended up finding a (like new) LG V20 for $300 USD - It was very hard to decide over the mate 9, oneplus 3t and the V20. Because I got it at a reasonably low price it won't be much of a loss at resale if I decide on something else, especially as something is always right around the corner.

IMO mate 9 is the closest thing you'll get to our beloved note 4 right now.

It has big screen good camera good sound IR blaster big battery .
Only think missing would be S pen .

No IR Blaster, no removable battery, smaller screen, no capacitive or physical buttons. It's a great device besides that but all of those things are very useful to me and it has none of them. The only thing it has that are in my requirements that the LG V20 doesn't have is a smaller device build . The front facing speakers are welcome too.

If it had better community development (Only 3 custom roms at present) and either a removable battery or capacitive/physical buttons OR both it would have won me over the V20

The old note was build on 01.14.2015. Its still running, but sometimes only starting with the freezer trick and it need wake lock running to stay alive. As sometimes it just shut off where no freezer is in sight, I needed a "new" device. The old one is now my gear vr device ;)
New device build date is 11.11.2016, so I hope it will stay a while with me. I dont want to loose all its features for a faster, but featureless device!

Are you sure about that date? It doesn't sound logical for it to be so recently manufactured (it was the time samsung was fighting with note 7's problem)

Hope that there were a few revisions and mine is not affected! Hope yours too!

This thread inspired me to check my build date - September 2014. Fingers crossed emmc death is not imminent!
Axon 7 does have capacitive keys in most markets actually (I remember being really impressed at how much they crammed on to the front when it came out), but its camera is not really an upgrade from Note 4.
Overall, I'm tossing up between P10 Plus and U11. I think I've given up on removable battery (damn you mfrs!). Still can't decide whether lack of headphone jack is dealbreaker, but hey, I dealt with it on my HTC G1 ;)

Google Pixel 6a
I would buy the LG V20.
But it is indeed getting a bit old. My next candidate is the Huawei P10 Plus / Mate 9 (or Pro), have one in the family already, we will see how Huawei handles updates.
Of course, I always loved Samsung's community, but hell Samsung didn't give us any proper phones since the S5/Note4, so we are kinda left hanging there. There is the V20, but LG also decided to go full pants-on-head retarded with the G6.

Community or not, I vote for P10 Plus so far.
6GB of RAM, 128GB storage, it's SUPER FAST, there are dark / any themes just like Samsung, the fingerprint sensor is AWESOME and very well placed, it's running Nougat, it's very customizable, charging is SUPER FAST.
Can't say any bad thing about it.
There is also Hauwei VIP that you get. 3 years of warranty, 3 months of free screen replacement, if your phone breaks in 3 months, they just give you a new one.

The glass didn't bother me either, the carrier store had a generic tempered glass which we added upon the original screen protector.
Feels great, works great.
So yeah. No complaints. Repair also looks easy on both P10 Plus / Mate 9.
I mean both do 2 days straight easily with heavy use. (Friend bought the Mate 9, family member has the P10 Plus.)
I was skeptic too about Huawei ... after being a life-long Samsung user with occasional LG devices. But heck, it's a great phone.

I am no marketing person. Ask away, I can do benchmarks, tests, whatever.
Personally I would buy the P10 Plus because of the fingerprint sensor. It's so nice. No virtual nav bar due to it, and it's super fast, and super comfy.
After the Note 4, it's like a dream. Just put your finger the... oh it's unlocked already.
It's fantastic.

ps.: The original cases look silly, and the flip case offers good protection but it was never my style. Carrier throw one at me for free, but yeah... just go for any other generic case to be honest. Ringke has transparent ones too. There is no wireless charging, but I could not care less. It's USB Type-C, and it charges up in no time. Really, it's super fast charging.

That's a tough choice between those handsets!

I did spend like whole Sunday looking at different phones, Youtube vids, reviews etc. but still don't see anything claiming the top spot to replace Note. In the end I did just order new battery and Ill just wait till 2017 to see what will show up.

Welcome on board. Have the same problem. My contract ends now and I've completely no idea where to go now. List of phones which I could get isn't too great. Huawei P9, Samsung S7, HTC 10 or Sony X. Naah. In the end I will probably just buy something but still it's hard to find for me a decent replacement for Note 4. Thought about Pixel but a quick look at the price tag and bam we are far,far away.
On another hand, LG looks interesting. G5 or V20. Especially the G5 with add-ons capability, but I'm not sure would it be an upgrade or just simple change.

Thought about that this morning...being a huge LG fan in the past, I have to say I'm quite disappointed with the G5.
V20 is a beast I've heard but don't know if the G5 would be that big a leap from your Note 4.

I'd probably say the Oneplus 3T or hold out for S8 Edge

Doing the exact same thing lol

I guess that's a great problem to have...Samsung overbuilt the Note 4 in 2014....now its hard to find a replacement lol

My Note 4 has developed the lag, freeze and reboot issue that many have reported, so it's either stick with the workaround of the partial wakelock which hammers the battery life or get a new phone (struggling to find replacement mobo's here in the UK). My last 3 phones have been Samsung and all were bought used but this is the first that's developed a major problem.

So I'm with you guys in wondering what to go for. Something around 5.5 inches with an sd slot a removable battery and a solid camera are my main concerns.

Ideally I'd like a removable battery as it's amazing when I'm travelling (and I travel a lot). What would be the best alternative_A powerbank with quickcharge 2.0?
