Google Camera Port
Stable versions of the modded Google Camera app and configs for the OnePlus 3/3T.

[ Differences between developers | FAQ's/Troubleshooting | Front camera fix | ARCore & Playground ]

Features:
- Camera (HDR+, ZSL, flash, zoom, front camera, raw, etc);
- Video (30/60FPS at 1080p, 30FPS at 4K);
- Night Mode, Portrait Mode, Motion Photos, Lens Blur, Panorama, Photo Sphere, Photobooth;
- Motion tracking (Android 9+);
- AR Stickers (guide);
- Slow motion (Works on Android 7. Fix available for (some) Android 8 and Android 9 ROMs);

How to use:
1. Download and install the apk file.
2. Unless there's a "suggested settings" link next to the download link, the app is ready for use.

- Some versions require the front camera fix. 3T users also need this fix in order to take 16MP photos with the front camera.
- Feel free to explore the settings, but keep in mind that enabling the wrong options might cause problems.
- Issues? Read the troubleshooting post.

APKs from BSG, Arnova8G2, Tolyan009, etc:
Warning: some versions are not compatible with the 3/3T.
» Download here.

Differences between developers:
It all comes down to compatibility and the number of features available. Some developers do more work than others. For example, BSG and Arnova8G2 usually fix bugs and add important features while others only do small changes so the app can perform better on the 3/3T. Some of those changes are only visual (eg: different menus). [more info]

Best developers for OnePlus phones:
At the moment Arnova8G2 is the best option. APKs from Tolyan009 and Skulshady, which are usually based on Arnova's work, also work very well on the OP3/3T. If you're looking at older apks (based on GCam 4.4), use Ivanich's apks. Apks from other devs usually need the front camera fix.

OxygenOS vs custom ROMs:
This port works better on custom ROMs. Some features may not work on OOS without breaking something. Even if you don't use this app, consider moving to a custom ROM for security (link, link, link) and privacy (link) reasons. ROMs like LineageOS, OmniROM, etc, are great replacements for OOS in terms of features, updates, and security.

VirusTotal false positives:
One of the +60 virus engines used by VirusTotal flags these apks. My post about it.

FAQ & Troubleshooting:

Black screen / viewfinder:
Fix 1:
- You may need to install the front camera fix for it to work.

Fix 2:
- If you can't install the front camera fix (link above), see if there's a "Disable Front Camera HDR" or "Fix Black Screen" setting on the settings menu. Turn it on and restart the app.

Fix 3:
- The GCam version you're using isn't fully compatible with the 3/3T or your ROM. Try a different version.

OP3T 4MP front camera limitation:
- A bug on OnePlus code means that 3T users need to install the front camera fix in order to have access to the 16MP resolution.

Can't install the app:
Fix 1:
- If you already have a Google Camera app installed, try to remove it first before installing a new one. If your ROM ships with a pre installed app, remove it (eg: using Titanium Backup + root) or use a different ROM.

Fix 2:
- The version you're trying to install is not compatible with your Android version. Use a different apk.

Fix 3:
- Sometimes users get a "There was an error parsing the package" error when installing the app. This seems to be caused by the Google Drive app. Download via your browser or use the other download link (check this page if one isn't provided).

Motion photos not working:
Fix 1:
- Motion photos doesn't work on Android 7.x, only Android 8.x or newer.

Fix 2:
- This feature requires Google Photos. Other gallery apps will display still images.

Fix 3:
- Motion photos requires specific settings for it to work. Sometimes you need to use a Pixel config and a 16:9 resolution instead of the default 4:3. Sometimes there's a menu where you can choose the resolution for this feature (try them all). On this thread, check the "suggested settings" next to the download link for more info.

App crashing just after being opened:

Fix 1:
- You may need to install the front camera fix for it to work.

Fix 2:
Older versions may not work on newer Android versions (and vice versa). Try an older apk if using an outdated Android version, or a more recent apk if using the latest Android version.

Fix 3:
Google Camera will crash if no GApps is installed. See the section about running this port without Google Apps below.

Fix 4:
If it happens after you upgraded to a new version or after changing the app settings, there's a chance you're using not compatible settings. Clean the app data or uninstall and reinstall the app again.

Fix 5:
Using a root file manager/explorer, delete the following files (ignore the ones you can't find), and try again:

Code:
/system/etc/permissions/com.google.android.camera.experimental2016.xml
/system/etc/permissions/com.google.android.camera.experimental2017.xml
/system/framework/com.google.android.camera.experimental2016.jar
/system/framework/com.google.android.camera.experimental2017.jar
In some cases you also need to reflash an updated GApps package after removing the files. Keep in mind that dirty flashing GApps can cause some issues if the GApps you already have installed are old. A nandroid (TWRP) backup or a clean install is recommended.

Fix 6:
Google Camera only runs on ROMs with the Camera2 API enabled and some ROMs don't have this enabled. To enable:
- Flash the HAL3_Enabler.zip (by joshuous; use this zip to revert the change), or:
- Edit the build.prop:
-- Search for "persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=0" and change it from 0 to 1;
-- If you can't find it, add: persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1
-- Reboot

App crashing after taking pictures:
There's a big chance you're using the wrong settings and it causes the app to crash. Check the main post for suggested settings/app versions.

Can't open photos from inside the app:
Fix 1:
Go to "Debugging and tools", uncheck "camera.use_photos" and restart the app.

Fix 2:
Install the Google Photos app and try again.

Over exposed pictures:
There are 3 HDR options on most apks: HDR off, HDR+ On, and HDR+ Enhanced (HDR off, HDR+ Auto, and HDR+ On on older versions.):

Try to use HDR+ enhanced (right side option). While it's slower, it takes better photos on hard conditions:

Slow motion crash:
Fix 1:
Some ROMs require this fix (3/3T only), which enables slow motion on GCam versions based on 5.x and 6.x. Some GCam versions also support slow motion out of the box, so try the latest available on the main thread.

Sometimes the default FPS set by the app is not supported by the OP3/3T. Some apps support changing this, so explore the app's settings and if you find such option, select 120FPS and restart the app.

Note about Android 7.x:
This happens on ROMs that don't enable slow motion on their media_profiles.xml file. To fix this, you have a few options (tested on OP3 and OP3T only):

- Using Magisk: Install this module (by H0lmEd) or the HEVC+60fps+SloMo enabler module.
- Using TWRP: slow-motion-enable.zip (by frickinjerms).
- Or replace the media_profiles.xml yourself using ADB or a root file manager. It should be moved to /root/system/etc with 0644 permissions (rw-r--r--). More info here.

Alternative apps:
Some users reported that the Nokia Camera and that OnePlus' stock camera (v2.5.x) have slow motion working.

Black and white pictures:
Fix 1:
Change one of the settings (eg: disable camera sounds), restart the app, and try again.

Fix 2:
Reinstall the app (remove and install). Sometimes settings from old versions cause issues.

How to use GCam without GApps:
Fix 1:
You can run Google Camera with microG. Download Services Core from their website, install it, and then launch Google Camera. Sometimes a restart is needed.

How to load settings or export/import .xml files:
Fix 1:
Some Google Camera versions support config import/export. Read this tutorial to learn how to use it: Export/Import Settings: .XML Configs

What's "Sabre"?
Sabre is a merge method created by Google that improves photo quality on some modes. It's used for Night Sight and some versions also use it for zoomed photos and HDR+ Enhanced. Only works with the RAW10 format (other RAW formats result in black photos).

What's "Pixel 3 AWB"?
The Pixel 3 AWB (Auto White Balance) was created by BSG and Savitar and uses the device's colour calibration info instead of the pixel 3 info. This is different from the Colour Balance options available in the viewfinder.

Only some GCam versions come with this setting. It works with one of the "Pixel" models and sometimes it can result in pictures that look different from reality (e.g.: yellow street lights can become white).

What "Libs" do and which one to use?
In plain english, the libs included by some version versions affect the noise levels, detail vs smoothness, colours, add/remove brightness to shadows, etc. Usually these versions include the default lib (used by Pixel phones) and a few modified by other modders.

It's impossible to tell which one is better because they work differently on different hardware. It also depends on your preference (more noise + more detail vs less noise + worse details). You have to test to know which one is better for your phone.

What's "Hot Pixel Correction"?
Reduces the number of "hot pixels" (red dots) on the picture.

What's "Lens Shading Correction"?
Fixes vignetting (darker area around the centre of the picture).

What's "Black Level"?
Using a custom "black level" value usually fixes pink or green photos on phones with this problem.

Some versions allow users to use custom values for each colour channel (Crimson Red, DarkGreen, Light Green, Blue). This can be used to improve results in low light.

What's "Hexagon DSP"?
Hexagon DSP is an image processor available on some SoCs (processors) and improves processing performance while using less battery. Leaving it ON usually improves speed, but doesn't work on all phones.

Some apks are tagged with "NoHex" or "NoHexagon". Other apps have a "allow unknown devices" setting that enables/disables Hexagon.

What's "Buffer fix"?
The "buffer fix" option fixes viewfinder lag on some phones affected by this problem. There's a downside to this setting: on some phones users have to double tap the shutter button in order to take pictures.

What's "Pixel 3 Color Transform"?
This replaces the code cameraAPI2 SENSOR_COLOR_TRANSFORM1 and SENSOR_COLOR_TRANSFORM2 with that of pixel 3 (works for the creation of DNG images) Changes colours slightly.

What's "HDR+ underexposure multiplier"?
This adjusts the under exposure (if auto exposure is enabled). Set HDR+ underexposure multiplier to 50% and compare it with "normal" photos. Some users use it on 0%, but you need to test and see which value is better for your phone.

What's "Default GCam CaptureSession"?
Android 9+ only. Used for capturing images from the camera or reprocessing images captured from the camera in the same session previously. More info on Google's developer website: CameraCaptureSession.

Thanks for the feedback!

I have exactly the same setup as you, Oneplus 3.
The first time it saved 60 fps video, all working as intended.

The second, i was shooting and focusing normally but i had issues saving the file.
I couldnt play the video with any player, and thumb was black.

After that, i got errors, camera force closing etc

Also, after installing the xposed module, stock camera on vertex (oos port) could not save videos at all, maybe you can check that as well.

Oh ffs.

I did a +1 min video test and then recorded another small video (~10 seconds) and got no error. Now I tried it again with a long video and you're right, the app crashes ("problem with the media recorder") on VertexOS. I should have tested more before posting it here. Lesson learned.

But... for some reason... it doesn't crash on Sultan's LOS.

Tested this on OMNI. (OP3)
Both 60fps and Slomo work on Gcam.
I tested the OOS camera Port to check if I still have RAW support and all is good.

You can add OMNI to the list.

Google Camera refuses to boot after flashing this. It keeps force closing. Have tried several things it's just not working for me.

But the Google Camera app records videos at 60fps, right? If doesn't I will add OOS to the "not compatible" list.

Nice Have you tried long videos?

After recording a +2 min video, I tried to record another one and the app crashed. I rebooted and now I can record multiple long videos again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Which ROM? Using the OP3 or OP3T?

correct. stock beta has 60fps. i just wanted to try it for the sake of trying. but the google cam with 60fps and 30fps is working. but disables 60fps on stock camera app because of that magisk module
