Latest TWRP for OnePlus 5

If you don't know how to return back to a working state if something is broken, please think twice before flashing this.

Everything seems to be working so far, if not, please report to me!
Warning: Make sure you make a backup of all your important data manually before flashing anything, making any backups or restoring. There seems to be an issue which causes a bootloop after restoring data partition at the moment.
I'm not responsible for any data loss, bricks, or whatever went wrong on your device. I can try to help you but I won't pay your RMA just because you decided to do this to your device.

Working
  • Everything except what's not working, see below

Not working / issues
  • Restoring data partition from backups will lead to bootloop on OOS (non-OOS-based ROMs unconfirmed) Please read below

Regarding data backups:
If you use the latest test image it won't wipe your data if OOS decides to do it, at least that's how it has been before.

The problem with restoring data is rather simple, but rather hard to find a solution:

The backups are fine, and after restoring a data backup the data is there.
But when booting OOS with that, it can't set the policy on /data/local which will cause the system to reboot into recovery and wipe data.
So please test the latest test image and stop complaining about things we have already explained multiple times, or simply be patient until the issue is fixed.

Read before flashing! Read before asking!

OTG works from version 62 on, some people had it working before, but 62 has to work! Additionally, DO NOT restore data backups if you want a working OOS. Use titanium backup or other backup solutions in the meanwhile.

Hold on! Before downloading you have to read this post. If you ask or complain about things that are already explicitly handled in this post you will likely not get a response.

If you get issues with fastboot, e. g. the file size issue,
try various ports, cables, fastboot versions, operating systems, reboots.... Try flashing multiple times. It's a known issue related to the OP5 bootloader!

Download latest working image here (84-20170820-194433-CEST)
Download latest test image here (84-20170820-194433-CEST)

The latest working one was tested and is proved to be working.
The latest test one may or may not work, that's what you flash if you want to help or if you want to get the latest of the latest.
Note that often the last working one is also the latest test image because they both might be working and latest the same time.

Logs

To get logs there are two ways (if something is broken):

Code:
adb pull /cache/recovery/last_log
adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt
And send me the last_log file as well as dmesg.txt

OR

Use the command

Code:
fastboot boot twrp-oneplus5-X.img
then reboot into china recovery (simply reboot into recovery as you would do normally)
then get me the files /cache/recovery/last_log and /cache/recovery/last_kmsg

Sources

Of course I am going the open source way and giving you everything I used in this recovery.

To speed it up, I'll need a few experienced testers. PM me for more.

I'll use this thread to post a link to the working TWRP when it is done, and until TWRP for OP5 is official this thread should be kept alive (used as a placeholder for now).

Hey,

Heads up, seems that TWRP is already made in China: https://forum.xda-developers.com/one...2#post72778203

Btw, placeholders aren't a big thing in XDA

It's not open sourced, is it? And it's chinese.
I guess we want something working and open to anyone.

Of course this thread can be closed if anyone does it before me.
