That's actually handy to know. That means there's potentially an issue with the script. I just tested it, and holy mother of a goose... Gcam was still there. I'll pass it on to xXx for whatever he wants to do.. or not do with it. :good:
i am attaching my latest logs.
it'll make for bedtime reading now,.. AEST or ACST or AWST ?

onto Kernel flashing now

Cheers, I'll have a perusal while the wife yells at me to get off the phone. 11pm mate, Sunny Coast. I'm half-cut and seeing double. It's bed time.

Best of luck with the rest of your device. Check out SmurfKernel for a personal favourite on kernels at the moment. There's a highly active Telegram community for it as well.

thanks for the quick messages & attitude to help.

^ i followed this, and it worked!! :highfive:
Google Camera is there.

It's also a lot snappier & responsive too.

HOWEVER,...

I cannot find Magisk Manager anywhere.
It's weird.
It's not in Nova nor OOS Launcher either.

At least, I'm getting somewhere... :fingers-crossed:

i am thoroughly impressed with this phone, and this is the shock for me.
coming from Samsung & Motorola phones, with modded ROMs (e.g. XenonHD),
i'm enjoying stock OOS of the OP6.
i even bought the OP6, just because it was officially supported by XenonHD,
but i don't think i will install any ROMs, if i can get xXx + a kernel working well for me.

Check out SmurfKernel for a personal favourite on kernels at the moment. There's a highly active Telegram community for it as well.
what do you think of Blu_Spark or ElementalX ?

At the opposite to other roms, stock Oxygen it's a very good S.O. tweaked with xxxnolimits and a good kernel like smurf and a kernel manager it's better than any custom rom.

New Version 4.3 is available for Download

How to update? Simply flash over previous NoLimits Magisk Rom versions..

Changelog for v4.3
  • Fixed the "Disable Google Play Wakelocks" option
    - with v4.2 Google Fit was not calculating the distance
  • Optimized processing speed of the "Disable Google Play Wakelocks" option
    - with many user apps in place it could take about 3-5 min. on each boot to process all apps with v4.2
    - now this process is only running the very first time.
    - on next reboots it just compare what is already disabled and only process newly installed apps. That's just a matter of seconds.
  • Updated modded YouTube version v13.50.52-vanced by lauro almeida and ZaneZam
  • xXx.NoLimits.profile has NOT been changed. It's still Version 12

Important Notes:
  • xXx NoLimits must be flashed with TWRP
  • Working Magisk in place is a must requirement
  • Rom with basic android setup must be in place already
  • Xposed and Always on Display don't work yet on Android Pie
  • Flashing Xposed (Oreo only):
    - With Xposed in place, your SaftyNet check will fail. No patch or workaround can solve this.
    - When you selected Xposed, after the first Android boot you need to to wait about 2 min. until the Xposed Installer App was installed and then reboot once to initiate the Xposed framework and get a green screen in the Xposed Installer.

I've been on both. They're both reliable, but not for me. I get the most performance boost, and battery life out of SmurfKernel.

@jslawler QQ: could you kindly let me now which configuration of the Smurfkernel you are using. Which S0/S1/S2 , overclock. I know we can rename in a certain way prior to flashing, would u mind giving me this? Thanks a lot.

All configuration is done via the script which is extractable in the text versions now.
Ignore the name changing conventions mentioned in the post.

As for the configurations. Simply flash the kernel as is, honestly there's no change required.
Erik offers the kernel as how he uses it, based on his own and the testing groups results for each revision.
If you have a need to change something, it's for your own personal reasons - not something that my configurations will help with. My goals may be different to yours. I, for example couldn't care much about battery life.

Future questions about SmurkKernel, please ask them in the appropriate thread and I'll answer them there. ?

Default stuff works the best for it. In my testing before I used S0 and it worked fine. If you download the spectrum app you can switch between all profiles seamlessly without needing to reflash it. Again no need to switch values.

Android File Host entry isn't quite right based upon previous usage. The entry is in root (up two levels from Stable). You might want to fix this.

i just flashed v4.3 and it worked the first time, and i'm enjoying xXx already :)

i'll play around with it some more.
so, you also like Smurf Kernel ?

yes, i'm after Battery Life.
i don't play games on the phone & it's already got 8GB of RAM !
i'll test Blu_Spark over a day or so, but i want to test out Smurf, upon your recommendation.
how do you go about flashing kernels, e.g. ...go from 1 kernel to the next ?

Most efficient way to go from one kernel to the next is to take it back to stock, by either flashing the boot image from your current OS version, or dirty flashing the OS.
Filling these steps, you will need:
Flash TWRP
Reboot to recovery
Flash Magisk
Flash kernel (if Smurf, flash twice to every safe)
Reboot to system

Honestly a lot of these kernel devs are amazing for the OnePlus6. We have the luxury of choice here. Smurf is probably one of the most dynamic kernels there is with the spectrum profiles. Breaking a lot of new ground too it appears recently with the overclocking business. You won't regret it. BluSpark is also up there as well. In terms of battery life both Smurf and Blu are competitors, can't go wrong with either.

Cleanest way to switch between kernels is to flash stock boot IMG and then reflash. I've heard of people get away with just flashing on top without clean flashing. YMMV but I'll just throw it out there.

Flashing on top is fine so long as the the kernel you're coming from doesn't edit the ram disk.

    About xXx NoLimits

xXx NoLimits is an OxygenOS Stock ROM enhancement for OnePlus 6/6T (Enchilada)

xXx NoLimits is not a Rom itself but it's a Magisk Module which works exactly like all my previous Roms except that it does not include any OOS Rom components like Firmware, System, Vendor partitions or the Kernel. Therefore the size went down to about 200MB+. In combination with the OOS stock Rom it still provides you with all options you might have used already with my previous Rom versions.

As a Magisk Module running on top of the OOS stock rom, xXx NoLimits works 100% Systemless and provide you with plenty of options to be selectively installed. This way you get most of the typical things you usually have to collect and install one by one all out of the box.

Advantages over my previous full rom concept
    - Works independent of the current OOS Rom version
    - Still working after OOS version upgrade
    - Support OOS Stock Rom OTA's
    - When a new OOS OTA is available, just run the OOS update, flash Magisk again and xXx NoLimits is still in place and working like before
    - Complete Systemless - Don't touches system or vendor partition at all
    - Debloating without touching the system partition.
    - You can change debloat options and simply flash xXx NoLimits again without the need to install the OOS stock rom again.
    - smaller and faster download
    *
    Must Requirements
    - OOS Stock Rom with basic android setup in place
    - A working Magisk in place
    - Flashing in TWRP only

My focus with this Rom enhancement is to provide a smooth and snappy user experience with a decent battery life but also have some additional functions, tweaks and mods available which, for my taste, are missing in the stock OOS Rom.
    *
This is not a commercial project but my hobby. I developed this for my daily driver device and I decided to share it with you.

    xXx Tweaks
    Window Animation Scales
    Disable Google Play Wakelocks

    Substratum Theme Engine
Substratum Theme Modules like Ozone & K-Klock
    Vanced - modded YouTube app
    Caffeine Tile

    xXx System Tweaks

I added several tweaks on different levels to make the rom faster and snappy.
These tweaks also improve multitasking and maintain the system to be constantly fast.
6/8 GB RAM can (and should) hold a lot apps and services in the background. If you like apps to popup in virtual no time I recommend you to not close them when you change to another app but just put them to the background. Also, when speed is more important to you than window animations you can reduce the 3 Animation scale values in the developer options and select the AKT Burnout Kernel Profile.
xXx Tweaks includes There are also several more features under the hood like:
WiFi channel bonding for the 2.4GHz frequency
    ART Optimization
    Detaching of modded apps
Disable Google Play Wakelocks for better battery life
LMK Tweaks to use all RAM down to about 700MB left for best multitasking
    Magisk Health Check
    Kernel Tweaks
    …and several more

    Debloating
The rom provides you with the full range off not debloated at all (like OOS stock) to max debloated.
I also included a flash option to select Extreme Debloating. This will debloat the rom down close to a core Android level. You need to enable this option to take advantage of it.
The advantage of debloating is to gain even more speed and battery saving as less unused apps and services are running or even more free RAM to hold your favorite apps in background.
The downside is that you might miss certain apps or functionality but definitely nothing what will make your android unstable. All Google Apps are all available via Play Store as well.

    Sound Enhancement
xXx NoLimits includes ViPER4AndroidFX by default unless you disable it in the flash options. I also included my favorite sound profile which you will love for sure as well. Otherwise select the full profile package as well.
Dolby Atmos is also available as an option and work side by side with Viper and the Stereo mod.

    Systemizing Apps
For all who have issues with apps being killed in the background even they are marked as not to be battery optimized. If this happens, you won't get notifications anymore from that specific app and next time you jump to that app it have to be loaded again instead of still being available in Ram.

In order to work around this issue, you can now place your critical apps as apk file with any filename in the following folder:
    /sdcard/xXx/apps
All apk files will be installed as system apps when you flash NoLimits next time.

Now your selected apps will behave like a system app and as system apps are excluded from battery optimization mechanisms, they are most likely not killed anymore in background.

Let's say you want to do this with Whatsapp and have Whatsapp already installed as user app. This is not a problem. You don't lose any data and if updates are available, they will be applied by the Playstore like always. The apps are installed system-less as part of the NoLimits Magisk Module and NOT placed on the system partition.

If you want to add further apps, just place the apk files in /sdcard/xXx/apps and flash NoLimits again. Or if you want to remove some, or all apps simple remove the apk's or remove the apps folder and flash NoLimits again.

    xXx NoLimits Uninstaller

You could simply uninstall NoLimits with the Magisk Manager uninstaller but NoLimits is also changing Window animation speed and disable several Google Services in order to block wakelocks and disable Google Analytics for all installed apps. These changes can't be done systemless. These changes are persistent stored on the data partition.
The NoLimits uninstaller uninstall NoLimits and revert all changes back to stock settings.

    Uninstaller Exceptions
GCam and Substratum apps are kept as people might still use these apps and want to keep them. They can easily be uninstalled like you do with any other user app.
xXx folder on the sdcard also remain as you might have stored files in there which you might want to keep. Simply remove it with a standard file explore.

How to use the NoLimits uninstaller?
It can be flashed via TWRP or Magisk Manager.
After flashing, the xXx NoLimits module will be removed and a NoLimits uninstaller Magisk module is in place instead.
After rebooting, the NoLimits uninstaller completes all remaining tasks and automatically remove itself. Don't touch it. This process could take up to 5 min. when you had Google Analytics removal option enabled. The time depends on the number of user apps you have in place.
I suggest to create a Nandroid backup in TWRP before running the uninstaller to be able to go back any time to the previous state.

    Further improving user experience

The Kernel Tweaks option provide some further optimizations for better performance. I recommend to use the SmurfKernel by @pappschlumpf.
I'm running this combo with Kernel Tweaks enabled myself and my device is awesome fast, lag free and battery friendly.

    Latest xXx NoLimits Download
xXx NoLimits follow an unified "one installer fits all" concept.

Latest xXx NoLimits version is still working on this device and can be downloaded here in my OP8pro thread

Why is there no dedicated xXx NoLimits version for this device?

xXx NoLimits follow an unified "one installer fits all" concept and even I currently own the OP8pro only, I still take care that NoLimits remains compatible with older OnePlus devices.

Even though, this is a hobby project and I try to keep my time investments low. Therefore, my main efforts are focused on my daily driver which is the OP8pro.

I still keep my xda thread open for older devices, so that users can still help each other in the respective NoLimits thread.

Flash Instructions - xXx NoLimits OP6

    Flash Instructions

xXx NoLimits is not a Rom itself but it's a Magisk Module which works exactly like all my previous Roms except that it does not include any OOS Rom components like Firmware, System, Vendor partitions or the Kernel.
In combination with the OOS stock Rom it still provides you with all options you might have used already with my previous Rom versions.

    Must Requirements
    • OOS Stock Rom with basic android setup in place
    • A working Magisk in place
    • NoLimits Installer can be flashed per TWRP or Magisk Manager
      - On Magisk 19 or higher, flash per TWRP & Magisk Manager
      - On Magisk 18.1 or older, flash per Magisk Manager only

    TWRP Source
All files and instructions to get TWRP up and running you will find here:
Special thanks to lollyjay for creating the instructions and joemossjr for the unofficial TWRP
    https://xdaforums.com/oneplus-6/how-to/guide-how-to-install-official-twrp-t3801558

Prerequisite to flash the xXx NoLimits Rom - xXx.NoLimits.profile

Unfortunately, the current available TWRP don’t support Aroma Installers yet.
In order to still provide you with the possibility to choose your favorite options to be flashed the rom is using a file called “xXx.NoLimits.profile” as a reference for all your individual settings.

If you just flash the xXx NoLimits rom.zip without placing your individual edited xXx.NoLimits.profile to the sdcard default settings are used for flashing. This means you can just flash the xXx NoLimits rom but if you like to set your own preference presets you have to either edit the file or you extract the file from the rom.zip and copy it to the /sdcard or /sdcard/xXx folder on your device.

The xXx NoLimits installer detects automatically if you have the “xXx.NoLimits.profile” on your sdcard or not. If not it will use the presets from the profile included in the rom.zip. So the priority is the profile on your sdcard. If you install the rom via OTG you can also place the profile to the root of your usb-stick and this will have priority over the profile on the internal sdcard storage or the rom.zip.

Basic Instruction how to edit the “xXx.NoLimits.profile” you will find inside the file.
Just one more important information. If you are editing the profile on your Windows PC you must use Notepad++ otherwise you destroy the required file format.

You can download the xXx.NoLimits.profile here

    Flashing xXx NoLimits
    HTML:
        • Mandatory prerequisite requirements
    	• xXx NoLimits.zip stored on your internal sdcard
    	• follow the “Prerequisite to flash the xXx NoLimits Rom” instructions above
    	• working OOS stock rom in place (any version)
    	• TWRP in place
        • Magisk rooted (if not, do it now)
    	• Boot to TWRP
    	• Don’t wipe anything
    	• Flash the xXx_NoLimits.zip
        • Reboot and enjoy the rom

Update to a new OOS Stock Version
    HTML:
The following 2 OOS Update methods are assuming that xXx NoLimits is currently up and running and will help you to update your device without having to use a PC or Fastboot.
Be aware that with the first update method you will lose TWRP and your custom kernel and have to flash that again next time you have access to your PC.

    1) Update OOS via OTA Update Screen in Android
        • Click Download and Install in Update Screen
        • When it is asking for a reboot, goto Magisk Manager
    	• select Install and choose “Install to Second Slot”
        • Go back to the Update Screen and click Restart
        • Enjoy the new OOS rom version with xXx NoLimits fully working again

    2) Update OOS via TWRP
        • Download the OOS Full Zip and place it to your internal sdcard
        • Make sure you have the Magisk and TWRP Installer stored on your internal sdcard
        • Boot to TWRP
        • Flash OOS Stock Rom.zip
        • Flash TWRP Installer.zip
        • Reboot the Recovery (TWRP)
        • Flash Magisk
        • Optional: Flash custom Kernel.zip
        • Reboot to Android

    Hey guys and gals,

Instead of posting a new version of xXx NoLimits, I would like to inform you that I decided to stop the development of xXx NoLimits for all devices. This means that the current v2.9.2 is the last version which I posted here on xda.

This decision was growing over quite some time now and was triggered by 2 main reasons.
    • Since about one year, I’m extremely busy with my job which essentially reduce my available free time for my family, friends, private duties and my hobby to the weekends. This is a non-commercial hobby project and my priorities are family and friends first. This situation might change and I start a new project, but for now that’s the way it is.
    • xXx NoLimits is my hobby and the main driver for continuous development was that it has been great fun for me to develop and maintain this project. But now it’s more of a duty than having fun.

I started with xda in 2008 and posted my first project on xda in 2015. At this time most of the xda members was very educated, eager to help each other and most of them was hitting thanks when somebody helped them or a new version was made available.

Today it feels like most people are less educated and at the same time complexity increased a lot. Now we have encryption, increased overall security measures, a vendor partition, a/b partitioning, a shared partition for kernel and recovery, Magisk roms etc. So the demand for education to successfully flash Rom’s and stuff increased a lot, but instead of educating first to a certain level, users right jump from nowhere into rooting. Instead of reading first and searching for a suitable solution, it’s obviously easier to post questions as issues arise. If somebody helped solving the issue, often not even a thanks is applied to that post.

My special thanks to all loyal users and donators of xXx NoLimits and the ones who strongly help to support other users.

Even though there will be no updates anymore, xXx NoLimits is a Magisk Module which supports Oreo and Pie Rom’s. So it could be further used like it is for quite some time.

I will be still around here, but might be not as active as before.

    Cheers
    xXx
