You have to be rooted because it relies on the Sony Substratum overlay theming technology Sony contributed to the AOSP several years back (I think since Oreo).

Thank you for the clarification! I do not want to root my phone just to use this app.

Yeah. That's kinda because Sony Substratum overlay have been made a private system setting in Android Pie, necessitating the root permission.

Strangely this works for me on stock kernel, and Smurf, but there are a couple of other custom kernels where it just won't apply. Very weird

I've noticed that too. I think I posted about it here as well.
Haven't seen a solution though

I have a wierred issue with FP login on apps. I am unable to use any app I have on my phone to use the finger print scanner to get me in. It says the finger move stop fast or not recognized error even though I didn't move the finger an inch. But while signing in to Phone is done with no issue.
Plz help I'm on Oos Beta 16 and OP 6T.

So after the .16 update I can't get it to stick and sometimes the app freezes up and force closes. I did everything the same as I did when I went from .14 to .15. anyone else have this issue?

This is true, on stock kernel this app works fine (although a few reboots are required sometimes), whilst on Onega kernel it just doesn't work, no matter how many times I reboot

Anybody found a way to get this app working on omega kernel?
