Easy :
Install Ob 05 with System > Local Update. DON'T reboot !
Open Magisk > Downloads > TWRP A/B Retention Script. Install it. DON'T reboot !
Go back in Magisk app and choose install Magisk "Install to inactive Slot (After OTA)"

I was on ob 04 with twrp 3.3.1-70 and latest Magisk Canary (04.11.2019)

@null0seven I might have missed a step and now I have lost root by upgrading from 9 to 10.0.1

I have tried:
Reinstalled twrp.img on bootloader (twrp-3.3.1-70-guacamole-unified-Q-mauronofrio.img)
Download full OSS-10.0.1 update.zip and install it on twrp/recovery (OnePlus7ProOxygen_21.O.21_OTA_021_all_1910071446_6f7c731d5aa7dbe.zip)
installed twrp.zip in twrp/recovery (twrp-3.3.1-70-guacamole-unified-installer-mauronofrio.zip)
installed Magisk.zip in twrp/recovery (Magisk-v20.1.zip)
root doesn't work

Using Payload dumper, extracted boot.img
patched boot.img with Magisk
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
Reboot, Installed twrp.zip using magisk
reinstall magisk
root doesn't work

wiped Data, Cache, system, vendor, and tried everything over again.. didn't work.

the only thing left is downgrade to 9 or try to fastboot the full room OnePlus7ProOxygen_21.O.21_OTA_021_all_1910071446_6f7c731d5aa7dbe

This is my current setup rooted and twrp installed obviously . I wanted to update to 10. There were so many instructions. Can someone kind enough to tell me what exactly need to do. I don't have access to pc. Don't want to mess with bootloop. Thank you in advance

Here's what I did yesterday, worked perfectly. I was also going from 9.5.11:

System update to 10.0.1. Did not reboot on completion.

Flashed TWRP 3.3.71 in Magisk. Did not reboot.

Installed Magisk via direct install. Did not reboot.

Installed Magisk via available slot. Reboot, all good. Still rooted, no data lost.

Hey everyone, I was able to successfully update to Open Beta 18(was already rooted prior to applying OTA) with root and TWRP. I did the following:

    1. Downloaded the Open Beta 18 update from Oxygen Updater (DONT REBOOT)
    2. Went to Settings\System\System Update and click on the wheel on upper right corner.
    3. Select Local Upgrade, then install the update (DONT REBOOT)
*DO NOT REBOOT after applying the update.
    4. Remove Magisk modules that may cause problems (Call Recording is one of them)
    5. Launch Magisk, and install TWRP A/B Retention Script (DONT REBOOT)
    6. In Magisk, install Magisk again. Choose the "Install to inactive slot (OTA)" option
    7. Reboot once completed

    **Hope this helps some people**

    **UPDATE**
I've read in another post that "Call Recording" module may be a problem when going thru the steps above. Please uninstall "Call Recorder" module in Magisk prior to upgrading

Ice Bear is using the Google Product Sans font. It's available on the Magisk Repo.

B3311 thanks Ice Bear. B3311 could get used to this third person thang.

Or you can follow these steps..
    1. Let your phone download and install the update automatically. DO NOT REBOOT.
    2. Open Magisk.. Go to Download.. Install TWRP A/B Retention module. DO NOT REBOOT.
    3. Install Magisk to inactive slot.
    4. Reboot.

You are now on the latest OS version and rooted alongwith having TWRP as your recovery.. Enjoy !!

This is the procedure I followed (TWRP already installed)

    1. Download the full 9.5.7 image
    2. Download Magisk installer (.zip)
    3. Download the TWRP installer (.zip)
    4. Place all downloads in your phone storage
    5. Reboot into recovery (TWRP)
    6. Flash the 9.5.7 image
    7. Flash TWRP
    8. Flash Magisk
    9. Reboot

If Magisk is not active upon reboot, reboot into TWRP and flash the Magisk installer again.
