I was able to install TWRP on my Nexus 7 and want to install PA. Since I am new to this, I want to be sure these steps are correct. I ask because no matter how much I searched I could not determine is this is correct. I used these instructions to load LineageOS on my LG Nexus 4, I assume loading any Custom Rom would be the same
-------------------------------------------------------------
- If you are not in recovery, reboot into recovery:
- With the device powered off, hold Volume Down + Power until the bootloader appears, then release the buttons. Use the volume buttons to scroll to “RECOVERY” and press Power to select.
- Now tap Wipe.
- Now tap Format Data and continue with the formatting process. This will remove encryption and delete all files stored in the internal storage.
-Return to the previous menu and tap Advanced Wipe, then select the Cache and System partitions and then Swipe to Wipe.
*** I have seen mention of wiping Dalvik / ART Cache. Is this also necessary?
Sideload the LineageOS .zip package:
- On the device, select “Advanced”, “ADB Sideload”, then swipe to begin sideload.
- On the host machine, sideload the package using: adb sideload filename.zip

Thanks in advance for help

For any newbie that stumbles upon this, I can answer my own post.

The above is correct. You can also copy the file to the internal storage of the Nexus when you are attached to your computer, and then from the "Install" tab find and select the zip file to install. With this method you can also download additional files, like GApps to the internal storage to flash as well and install at the same time.

I was having trouble launching TWRP at first because most of the info out there is wrong regarding this device. After flashing TWRP run fasboot reboot-bootloader, not fastboot reboot.

Here is some info regarding what to erase in TWRP from TWRP - https://twrp.me/faq/whattowipe.html

I know most of this is beginner knowledge to many members of XDA but to those starting out, it's not often clear how to proceed. This advice is pretty much the same for any device.

Hope this helps someone
