And it's looking like the RAM management really is better for us too. I'm able to swap through 9 apps give or take without any of them reloading. Definitely couldn't do that before. It only took the release of the Pixel 3 to get them to fix it.

I won't update since I'm about to receive another Pixel 2 XL (the old one is breaking).

Is it ok to update on the new one and then factory reset rather than installing with adb?

Absolutely it is. Let it update via OTA, then factory reset, then unlock the bootloader. If those were your intentions

I dont know if it is the problem with my phone or with the wall charger ... My pixel 2 xl no longer charge with fast charging ... It does not charge at all
My wall charger is a delipoo with power delivery 2.0 and since the update my phone does not charge at all , i have to use a regular charger

They havent fix device theme error when messages app on dark mode

I noticed that too. It turns dark mode to always on in developer settings. Something tells me that's intended tho because it only makes pulling the notification bar down dark when you get notifications. So it makes that dark to for when you get texts. When you change back to light theme, it all changes back. I use light theme during the day and switch to dark in the early evening. And it all ties together nicely for me.

Anyone on Google Fi get the update yet? My wife's P3 on Verizon got it last night. Just checked, nada here for me.
Clear storage of Google Services Framework and Google Play Services. Restart and the update should drop right away. I sideload the ota but my wife is struggling to get the updates since September... This method works for her phone, after the restart the update immediately start downloading. She's with Vodafone UK though.

Pretty sure this is a bug. If you turn dark mode ON and open the contacts app dark mode stays ON. If you open Messages app dark mode gets turned OFF. This break the AA experience. For example, my AA will turn ON dark mode at night but as soon as I receive a text message it disables it causing unwanted brightness in my car.

Got the update on my phone too, but I also switched to another Pixel 2 XL since old one wouldn't charge fast.
Feels definitely snappier. Maybe the update from Oreo to Pie messed up something and I didn't realize, because it was fast anyway.

Whats the best way to update from November build to December build if rooted with magisk and TWRP recovery installed? Do i have to relock the bootloader?

    1. Flash the OTA zip in twrp, then flash the twrp installer zip and let the OS boot up. Then go back to twrp and flash your kernel and magisk.

    2. Fastboot the factory image with the -w removed so as not to wipe data, and let the OS boot up. Then fastboot into twrp, then flash the twrp installer zip and kernel, let the OS boot up, then go back and flash magisk.

Just some FYI, I always disable screen lock and all substratum themes before I begin. And there ya go :good:

    Hey all,

Any other method outside of sideloading to force the December update? I must seriously be on the last batch for all updates system & apps with either Verizon or Google...I have to manually update with APK files for most apps and I have had to sideload OTA's before. I mean the update was released by Google/Verizon on the 3rd and its now the 13th and no show?

I tried the framework google play clearing and no dice after the reboot...

    Sigh...
