Hi,

Thanks for coming in to support this device!

Was just wondering if it would be possible to add sound control, something like faux sound or boeffla sound or wodoo ( or the other ones around which increase the analog gain )

Thanks again!
Ash

It's on my list of things to look into but I don't have much time.

Been using this kernel for a couple of days now and I went to bed last night with 100% battery and when I awoke about 8 hours later, my phone had 99% battery left.. Looks to be a nice kernel, thx... ?

I've been using 1.00 build with topjohnwu Magisk 14.4 from Pixel 2 XL thread on stock 8.0 November OTA 025 for few days.
No problems noticed. Root is stable, SafetyNet passes. No random reboots. All good apart I still can't teach it to make me coffee in the morning.

Time to hop aboard this train. I've never used a Flash kernel but what can it hurt to give it a shot? I'm seeing so many good reviews here so I'm not gonna waste any time here!

For some reason, I cannot get this kernel to work at all. I've even attempted to use both methods you mentioned in OP and it's a no go on my end. I reflashed stock boot img along with stock dtbo img and reflashed your boot img alone and it didn't work either. Anyone that has gotten this to work, I'd like some help with this.

As @Natakranta said, the fact I have kernel source means I am free to update literally whenever I want. So as soon as I see a fix for a vulnerability available, I will queue it up and release it with the next kernel.

Hey, sorry to ask this question again, but I realized I'm still uncertain. Does this kernel patch Krack? Or is that something that's more than a kernel issue? I don't see anything in the commits on GitHub that I'm able to clearly understand as addressing Krack. Thanks.

KRACK isn't a kernel vulnerability so there's nothing for me to patch. It touches wpa_supplicant which is something that's built into the ROM.

Thanks. Yeah, I guess I knew that, I just thought maybe it was different on Android. I can't wait until (hopefully) Lineage OS supports walleye. They patched for Krack the day it was publically announced. I can't believe Google isn't releasing the patch until December. They will be dead last, by far, in terms of patching this.

Hi, i tried to flash this kernel 4 times now but always get stuck at the boot screen, reverting back to the patched original magisk boot img lets the phone boot.
i have tried with the orignal img file and magisk patched too i have the Pixel 2 not the XL. I was just wondering if anybody else has came across this ?

I have the Pixel 2 and flashed it with no issues. I patched it with Magisk 14.4, flashed the patched Flash kernel and the Flash dtbo.img. Did you flash the Flash dtbo.img along with the patched boot img? I am not sure if the dtbo flash was necessary, but it booted right up, with no issues, rooted and passing SafetyNet checks.

I finally got this flashed successfully. I had to first take the 57MB system update OTA and it flashed just fine.

Finally figured out what was up with Clang 5.0 :cowboy: 1.01 will be out in a few days but for those of you who want to test, it's on the site and feedback can be given via Telegram!

Unfortunately this was a false alarm :( opening the camera and rotating the phone causes a reboot, which I can't seem to fix at the moment. Hopefully Google releases the 8.1 kernel source soon.

no its September do i have to be on the November update ? if that is the case sorry i was not aware am i able to upgrade without loosing root ?

Yes, you need to be on the November update (as noted in the OP under "Features" and the second post). You will need to restore your stock boot image in Magisk Manager then do the OTA, which you can read about here.

All future discussion will happen in the Pixel 2 XL thread as the kernel is fully unified!

    Update!

This is probably one of the best tested releases ever because of how much time I've had to do so :) I'm pretty proud, it's a large update as I have brought in the latest EAS commits from kernel/common. I think they have improved battery slightly but Google Play Services decided to have a hay day so I clean flashed two days ago and haven't been able to run it enough to get solid numbers. Oh well, was good before that! Standard Linux version bump as well, lot of good security and stability improvements there. Enjoy :)

Remember any and all bug reports need to include logs and clear steps to reproduce (see the info in the OP). You should also know what version it started with. If you want to be a tester and get builds before they are released here or just hangout, feel free to stop by Telegram!

    Short changelog

    • Linux 4.4.116
    • Latest EAS commits from kernel/common
    • Some small patches found by @MSF Jarvis

    Update!

Merry Christmas everyone! I'm going to do a full changelog here and skip the short changelog because each feature has their own notes :p

    - Linux 4.4.108: Self explanatory, latest stable release, latest update :p

    - Maple I/O scheduler: Yes, I caved an added another scheduler. This will be my ONLY exception to the rules in the OP. @frap129 has done a good job on it so I feel confident adding it to the kernel. CFQ is still default however.

    - USB fast charge: This allows you to draw 900 mA from something like a computer charger port rather than 500 mA. Beware though, this can cause damage depending on your cable and such. It is off by default.

    - Disable unsupported power HAL governors: Conservative, ondemand, and powersave have been disabled. You really shouldn't be using anything other than schedutil to take advantage of EAS but I left interactive in there.

    - Move to the latest Clang toolchain from Google: We get the latest fixes and improvements from the LLVM community. Only downside is the kernel version kind of looks like a mess now. Small price to pay for stability though.

All in all, I'm very happy with this update and 2.06 will be even better thanks to @MSF Jarvis :highfive:
