A warning to people buying used Pixel phones. Developing story, at this point it looks like Project Fi phones getting resold violated TOS and get blacklisted and deactivated. Swappa buyers (or any buyer of used devices) end up paying the price.

It seems more like an error on Project Fi's end than an actual TOS violation where Pixel owners who got their phones from Project Fi are barred from being able to sell them. I had the exact same problem with a Virgin Mobile phone that I sold on Ebay--the buyer wasn't able to activate the phone because VM didn't disassociate my account from the ESN. It was easily resolvable--but it's probably more difficult with Project Fi since nothing seems to be easy to resolve with them.
