Finally an Android phone I can proudly tell people the battery is amazing. I don't feel the need to preserve battery throughout the day.

Amazing.

I am truly impressed with the battery life on my Pixel XL! I was emulating PSP with Bluetooth controller and headphones for the majority of my SOT. I'd say that's fairly heavy use lol

That's excellent.

This is running 7.1.1 + ElementalX kernel with stock settings and Swift Black overlay.

Can say, that I am impressed.

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Google Pixel XL before depleting the battery.

Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

After having two dud Pixels in terms of battery life I decided to get the Pixel XL (32 GB). The first 5 days were okay - I could manage 3-5 hours SOT.

I noticed that the Cellular Network Signal bar was mostly dark orange and yellow and very little green which I think drains the battery faster. I decided to turn off my data while I was connected to WiFi at home and at school and turn on Data Saver for good measure. Yesterday I got 7 hrs 40 minutes of SOT and was at 15% battery life. (Couple hours of YouTube, few hours of general browsing, using Microsoft PowerPoint, over an hour of Spotify (downloaded not streaming), GPS and Google Maps used for 40 + minutes.

What I found is the Cellular Network Signal was now about 60% of the time in the green vs before when I had data switched on and it had barely any green in the bar. Now I actually believe that people can get 8 hours SOT with the Pixel XL. :)

I read here that the power consumption of Android system should be more than that of Android OS, and that's not the case with my Pixel XL. Every time the latter exceeds the consumption of Android system. Any idea what's going on?

Normal use over the course of 2 days, screen 35% brightness, wifi always on, Bluetooth on when streaming audio in car. 100% stock. I normally only get about 4 to 4.5 hours of screen on time, which I've been totally happy with. But this let charge deserved a post!

I only get about 4.5 hours of SOT :( On my Nexus 6P, I used to get 6+ hours :/ My usage for both devices is pretty much the same. Do any of you think I may have a defective battery?

Edit: A clean flash resulted in 6 hours of SOT on average

How is your reception on the pixel? If pixel have harder time connecting to cell tower, could explain, at least partially, not as much SoT.

It's either average or slightly below. I had no idea a poor cell signal could cause battery life to take a hit! But again, I was in the same areas with my Nexus 6P and the battery life was still better on that :(

Starting to feel like it may be a dud of a battery

Battery life and screen on time is awesome after the Feb patch. They must have done something. I'm getting 1-2 hours more screen on time

I think this is the best screen on time I've ever gotten on a phone 5 hours and 30 minutes.

Coming from the Nexus 6P, this phone has absolutely blown battery expectations out of the water. Coming from 3-4.5 hours of SoT to now getting sometimes 7 hours of SoT, I have had no issues or complaints with it. Even under heavy usage (lots of videos, chats, games) I still get over 4 hours of SoT which is more than enough for me in any situation.

Anyone getting great screen time with Default settings? Adaptive and Ambient Display on? Brightness at %50? Anyone getting great SOT using Android Wear with an huawei Watch? I always by habit quick to hook up my phone to a changer whether I'm at Work , in the car or at home.
Today I haven't charged my phone since I removed from the Charger at 6 am and I'm sitting at 44% with 1 hr 36 min screen time.

How are people getting this? :( My screen seems to drain so fast even when I'm just constantly using it to see how much I can get. I barely get 40 minutes of SOT per 10% drain and that's if I'm using it straight through. Brightness kept low too. On wifi or LTE if doesn't matter.

The big part where is your screen brightness, I leave mine in the middle, I also love the night mode set at sunset to sunrise.

My S7 Edge had terrible battery life. This thing is absolutely amazing. Never need to worry about having a charger with me.

Coming from Nexus 5x, I would vary between 2.5 SOT to 4.
Owning a One Plus 1 before it, I would vary between 3.5 to 5 hours SOT.

I got a Pixel XL 2 days ago.
I am currently at 5:05 SOT and... and got 40% left !
I am guessing I will get around 7 hours by the end of the day.
Update: I am at 7:15 hours SOT at 10%.
Wow.

Yes, I am exaggerating with my phone time today because I am bored and been kicked out of my home by my now ex girlfriend. So don't judge me for spending too much time on a mobile device. Heh.

Been using it mostly browsing and chatting.
Location on, nothing turned off or tweaked.
Stock.

Have gotten the longest screen on time today. 7 hours and phone still on 17%.

Have been on wifi all day with screen on 75%brightness. Using pn rom and ex kernel on default settings + greenify :)

Edit: 8hrs 28min before it shut off ?

I decided to try and push things this morning and used my Pixel XL almost all morning non-stop. I used it to talk on Hangouts/Allo, check mail, facebook, feedly, Flipboard, google news, listen to music, etc. I had 3.7 hours of on screen time and the battery was down to 67%.So far it seems much better than my S7 was

This is with lots of web browsing, email/texts and some video and music streaming. Still haven't hit that 8 hour mark but pretty close.

Over 9 hours! What kind of voodoo magic do you have on your phone!? Is that plain ol' vanilla android? Any kernel?
