I think this hotspot thingy is just the same as all the broken stuff. It's part of the deal of booting a GSI on this phone. Maybe if someone looked into that and tried to patch the boot.img just like when the WiFi was fixed with this boot.img file linked earlier. So I wouldn't get my...

In terminal emulator, type "su" then type "top" (without quotes). Switch to landscape mode and check out the service that's hogging on your phone's CPU. The usual suspects for me were Chrome, Facebook, Google's Files app and Google Photos. Try that out and let us know how it goes. Switching to...

Beta 2 seems to mess around with a lot of stuff. I'll stick to beta 1 for now. Been rock stable and battery life is decent enough to last me through the day. Maybe I'll change to a custom ROM or beta 2 after I'm done with my final exams and my thesis defense :D

Could you explain your issue a bit more? I've had a similar issue where after some time the phone wouldn't save the images I've taken. I would just tap on the shutter button and I see nothing saved in the Gallery. That happened to me after some uptime with Gcam and the stock Essential camera...

Post Paranoid Android Quartz 5 - OnePlus 3/T

So I've installed the latest Paranoid Android Quartz 2 build on my good ol' OnePlus 3 and so far I am very impressed by how snappy and smooth it is. One thing that I've noticed though is the lack of options for navigation -- it seems there's only the option to use the capacitive buttons on...

Oh I see. Well, my good ol' OnePlus 3 is still kicking it. Flashed PA Quartz 2 on this thing and it is really smooth and snappy now. A breath of fresh air from the dreary slow OOS.

So I flashed the new DP4 GSI. It seems the new "Select" mode in the 'Recents' is not there. Most likely it will remain a Pixel-exclusive feature.

Yes, I just saw it. Weirdly it seems that the GSI has not been posted yet :( Don't see links to a new GSI here, the changelog is still the same even: https://developer.android.com/preview/gsi-release-notes#downloads

    Post Android 11 preview

I think I figured it out. After numerous trials and a lot of wiping. I think it's Dark Mode to blame, unfortunately. Google might have not programmed its new UI or designed it to work in Dark Mode, so it reverts to the old style of saving a screenshot: negating the new UI and displaying a...

Hi there! Was wondering how were you able to push the APK file to the /system partition. AFAIK, I am only limited to pushing stuff to the internal storage (/sdcard) without root access, since the /system partition is mounted as read-only and I can't remount it as read-write. Is there anything I...

Try rebooting and then apply the settings in the scripts via EXKM and/or FKM to ensure it is not the script failing to execute and causing numerous errors and such. Post Essential Tweaks

To be honest, I tried messing about with some settings (cpusets and the stune values apart from top-app/schedtune.boost) and at the moment the default values work for the best, even though the current state of the ROM/kernel is far from the perfect state of AICP Pie. There seems to be an issue...

Well, it was a desperate attempt by me to try and squeeze more juice on Android 10 custom ROMs, not sure it will work out on stock ROM. Basically, I am experimenting with different values for the cpusets and stune settings of each cgroup. I'm still evaluating whether it has a significant...

Post Android 10 - RAM management issues?

Sitrep: switched to AOSiP 10 (20191012 build), never had a single RAM management issue since. Not sure if it's because of clean flashing the ROM, switching to f2fs or whether it's the ROM that has some fixes. But, well I'm a happy man now :D

Post Android 10 - RAM management issues?

To my shock, it appears that the October security update didn't fix this issue. It may have taken more uptime to occur but it is still there. I think at this point I'm better off switching back to Android Pie custom ROMs.

Thread Android 10 - RAM management issues?

I've updated to Android 10 recently and, while I enjoy the improvements to the performance, I have been far from impressed with the phone's RAM management. So I have been doing a lot of tracing and testing some new changes and, well, I think it is very difficult to squeeze any more battery life on stock ROMs. Which means that it is highly unlikely that this script is going to be updated with new additions as this is practically the best we could...
