    Post [Kernel][grus] Kowalski Kernel [ beta: XXX - stable: r1.9.3 ]

You mean fod with screen off? that will work only with the crdroid provided kernel because the dev patched it on purpose to make it work. Okita released a magisk module to make it work without those patches. It's here on xda :)

Kowalski Kernel 1.9.1 Release Hey guys, it's that time of the week already  Sorry for not posting public betas in the meantime but the work done this week has been quite hard and complicated. The way to a full 4.14 integration is getting simpler now and the results start to be really...

Just unpack the rom zip, get the boot.img and flash it via fastboot. Also don't forget to flash dtbo.img too.

    Post [Kernel][grus] Kowalski Kernel [ beta: XXX - stable: r1.9.3 ]

Weird, it's being used on that rom by one of my testers so I'm pretty sure it works there. Crdroid full seems to have a problem with reboots though. Try a hard reset maybe (all three buttons pressed until you feel a little vibration).

Kowalski Kernel 1.9a beta Hi guys, this is a beta, really really beta version, that includes quite a few heavy modifications on top of 1.8, so flash it if you want but be advised :) The only thing that has changed drastically is the whole wifi stack. Now it's aligned on the bleeding edge...

Kowalski Kernel 1.8 release (moar battery lovah) Hey guys, this one was a blast. Had to revert all the updates to the wifi driver because they only caused problems and a bit of drain. Kowalski Kernel r1.6 (Infinite Battery Works) After extensive beta testing I finally got to the conclusion that this is a release worthy kernel, so here it is: Main focus of this release has been "battery love". From tuning the blu_schedutil defaults, to disabling a ton of useless logging...

    Post [Kernel][grus] Kowalski Kernel [ beta: XXX - stable: r1.9.3 ]

Guys, seems to me that 4.9.188 drains more than 4.9.187. I reverted to r1. 5 and battery is way happier. Let me know if it's just my impression of if it's worth reverting the update and wait for 4.9.189 to see if they solved this.

    Post [Kernel][grus] Kowalski Kernel [ beta: XXX - stable: r1.9.3 ]

Hey there, I spent quite some time removing most of xiaomi stuff from the kernel. I'm not planning to reinstate it sorry. The things that won't work on miui are fod with screen off (unless you enable double tap to wake) and the xiaomi specific gestures. If you can live without them you can flash...

Or I keep shouting for a serious rom developer to partner with that helps me build and test a proper vendor for a non gsi rom. At that point we're good to go and we decide when to update the blobs.

hahaha yeah it's insane to follow all the people using different vendors / firmwares / basebands. It's like chasing a rabbit down a hole. Now I get why lineage sticks with a firmware / vendor set and never changes it :D

    Post [Kernel][grus] Kowalski Kernel [ beta: XXX - stable: r1.9.3 ]

It's just the default to keep it a bit more responsive. Little technical explanation follows: When the phone is in suspend, the cores are disabled and the cpu goes in low power state, so the frequency doesn't really matter. When in active use, the energy and time required to reach a target...

    Post [Kernel][grus] Kowalski Kernel [ beta: XXX - stable: r1.9.3 ]

Hi, yeah, it's absolutely normal and harmless. It's a standard thing Android bitches about on GSIs when the kernel is too "stripped" and can't neither debug it nor load modules and/or there is a mismatch between system and vendor props. Search for that message in XDA and you'll see that tons of...

Ehm... hello everyone :) Our phone is quite a little powerful beast, but Xiaomi really made a crappy job on optimizing it, right? After unlocking the bootloader I felt the need to go back to my roots and get my hands dirty to fix the wrongs in the kernel they released. The phone felt slow...

Hey there, I repackaged the magisk module with the sound fix from the telegram group. All good so far, but AudioFX still errors out and dies. I think there are some assets missing that it's looking for: 07-05 12:39:31.888 975 1634 W AudioFlinger: createEffect() effect not found 07-05...

Link to the group? Nevermind, found it and the file. It's doable, tomorrow morning I'll add it to the module and test it. If it works I'll publish it.

    Post Flash GSI

Yeah sure, the firmware/vendor pack is safe to flash and just updates the firmware and vendor partitions. Doesn't touch system or data at all. To check volte and such, also install the magisk module through magisk manager. Ok, I'll wait 'till you feel safer :p
  40. pengus77

    Post Flash GSI

... and that's a good thing, right? :p Anyway also screen on time should be a bit better with the runtime pm enabled. Did you get to flash the firmware/vendor zip too? All good there? When you flash it you should also magically see the right settings appear in mobile network mode (lte, gsm...

    Post Flash GSI

Got it. So your provider doesn't provision volte and that's ok. Have you checked in floko settings if volte icon is enabled? If it's not, enable it and see if it's provisioned. Anyway for the brightness "issue" I'll check how it behaves here with and without runtime pm and keep you updated on...

    Post Flash GSI

Revolution OS is based on the same dev version of xiaomi.eu. When and if it will work on one,it will work also on the other.
  46. pengus77

    Post Flash GSI

I'm just fine with floko. Battery life is ok, can be better but I'm not complaining. I use it for work, so about 1/2 sot and 2 hours calls, plus whatsapp web and some other apps. I manage to get home after 10 hours with 75/76 % left.
  47. pengus77

    Post Flash GSI

Of course it's better. MIUI has an insane amount of background services and, moreover, xiaomi.eu is based on a development rom. This means that the rom itself has debug enabled and the kernel too, leading to way more battery usage compared to a standard GSI (which is also compiled as userdebug)...

    Post Flash GSI

Interesting, so the fix for the safetynet also made it compatible with other GSIs probably. Let me know if it fixes BT calls on Havoc please... also consider that it "overwrites" the values for auto brightness and for the battery profile, so let me know how it feels :) It's useless on...
