Yeah this rom is still active just the next update is going to be quite good , however people can’t seem to wait so I might just do a security patch and save it for august... I don’t know yet

Ah yes that's just a weird glitch, install stock via mi flash repair your partitions, then erm just approach your flashing method differently, since if you do it in the wrong order you sorta get stuck on fastboot

Its because this device is super partition , and ota does not mix well and as you are all aware the twrp has issues

Also the answer to your question, no, only stock or custom stock ROMs can be flashed via fastboot now it's possible for custom ROMs too , but it's a lotta effort and everyone in the community has figured out flash custom ROMs zip via twrp is a lot nicer and easier especially during complication...
