Hello Admins and Mods, I would like to suggest to limit the height of the signatures. We have rooted the 4.2 version, so I think the 3.6 version can be rooted the same way. What you need is a technically adept fellow with two 3.6 devices or two cooperating fellows with the same model devices. I can help/instruct how to do things if there are voluteers.

Post [Q] Galaxy Player 4.2 (YP-GI1) - Rooting and ROMs

OK, now we must find out why your device fails to load the driver file. First thing you should do is to check if the file exists in your system: install a file manager capable of browsing system files (Ghost Explorer for example) and browse into /system/etc/wifi and check if the tiwlan_drv.ko...

Post [Q] Bootloader, boot ROM, and the processor

Can't speak about the other devices, but in the 4.2 version there was no problem running a slightly modified kernel, if there is a signature check in the bootloader, it didn't mind about the init.rc file changed in the kernel. And we successfully run a rooted factoryfs /system image. As I know...

mkbootimg works for me. I have extracted the kernel image and initrmfs from the boot image you have provided, then ungzipped the initramfs, then hex edited it to fix the default.prop (I could extract using cpio then compile back, but hex edit is better I think), then created some different...
