That looks very unlikely. The hardware is different and the software is probably also quite different.

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

No. Since there is no root exploit for CC2 it's not possible.

2: It's possible to do, but probably not so easy. NTFS: I haven't tried myself, but it depends on if NTFS is supported by the kernel. If NTFS is supported you can probably just change "-t vfat" in the rcast_player_start.sh script to "-t ntfs" and that might work. If you login ssh/telnet you...

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

Probably not. But if you have unlimited data, can't you set up your phone as a wifi hotspot and have the CC connect through that?

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

It's a full ROM based on Eureka, but I have not removed the auto-update feature, so when a newer Eureka version comes out it it will update if you have not manually disabled it. Then it probably works as it should.

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

Probably not. I have no idea what is the actual problem.
  7. R

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

Probably not. I'm not sure how screen casting works but normal apps download a receiver component every time the app is loaded. If that is located on the internet I guess it is not possible.

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

It does not do anything when you are connected to the internet. That means normal casting is no problem. Not sure how it affects DNS hacks for Netflix and other services

    Post [ROM] [44433.001 - 2015-11-15] Eureka-ROM - Based on OTA 44433

Disable automatic updates and manually flash the old version.

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

Installation procedure is the same as for Eureka ROM, so have a look at that thread. Basic requirements are that your device is rootable and that you have installed FlashCast.

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

Yes, I do a modification of the Eureka ROM. Since I do manual patching of some binaries, I doubt the process can be fully automated like he has done. Unfortunately I just noticed there has been some changes to the latest cast_shell, so it no longer works properly when there is no wifi. It still...

I have now updated it, so it is based on the latest Eureka ROM. Download available here: http://www.rundgong.com/rcast/download.php?id=rcast_1.1

Yes. For some reason blinking does not work on Xperia L, so I just disabled that option in the app.

I'm on vacation right now, but when I get home I will update it. That might take a few weeks though.

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

First post has now been updated with link to sources at github. Some of the build scripts are a bit messy because I don't have any toolchain for chromecast, and had to use the toolchain for android instead. But hopefully you can understand what is going on anyway.

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

There is no difference about the ip-address compared to Eureka ROM, when it is connected to a network. Just use the Chromecast settings app, it will show you the ip.

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

The web page is still there with all the settings. This rom removes no functionality from the original rom. Except for the few patches to binary files mentioned in the first post. If you have it set to allow eureka OTA updates, I believe it will overwrite my changes when they decide to send out...

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

It already bypasses the "must be connected to the internet" crap :) It does not differentiate between "no internet" and "no wifi" though
  19. R

Post [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

Yeah, I use the same USB-storage + Y-cable for power that I use while flashing ROMs. The USB drive I use is prepared by flashcast during the rooting process, but I suppose it will work also for any regular USB drive.

No, they do not have to be in a specific folder on the USB storage. All mp4 files on the USB stick will be included in the playlist.

Thread [ROM] rCast - Chromecast as a standalone media player without wifi

*** Now based on Eureka ROM 44433.01 *** I have created a custom ROM (based on latest Eureka mod version 44433.01) that will let you play local media files without any wifi or other devices to control it. It essentially becomes a self contained media player. Media files can be stored either...

    Post [ROM] [44433.001 - 2015-11-15] Eureka-ROM - Based on OTA 44433

In the devices web interface, under Settings you have Whitelist Provider. Change it there
  23. R

    Post [ROM] [44433.001 - 2015-11-15] Eureka-ROM - Based on OTA 44433

Sounds a bit like the apps.conf is broken, if you can't connect with any streaming apps. What white-list provider are you using?

    Post [ROM] [44433.001 - 2015-11-15] Eureka-ROM - Based on OTA 44433

Does anyone know if it is possible to do this on the current ROM? I tried searching but could not find an answer here, and there were no obvious clues in init.rc either... Otherwise, can we maybe request this feature for the next release of the Eureka ROM? :) I suppose it is possible to make my...

Not that I know of. Setting those ledxxx/brightness only modify the current value. It's only has effect until someone else gives it a new value.

    Post Illumination bar notification app

No, I'm still running stock rom on my SP, so I have not tried any 5.x roms
  27. R

    Post Illumination bar notification app

Not sure about that. There is nothing in either this app or IlluminationReceiver that depends on the android version as far as I know There were some changes in the last version of XP stock ROM that broke the Illumination API. I think I got around some of it, but maybe there are some bugs left.

It works for me. I installed the latest CM12.1 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/u-development/rom-unofficial-cyanogenmod-12-xperia-t2986729 Copied IlluminationReceiver.apk it to sdcard using adb. Installed by clicking the file in TotalCommander. I do not see any...

There has not been any changes to IlluminationReceiver for 5.1. It sounds like your file got corrupted during download or something like that.

  34. R

    Post Illumination bar notification app

It might be possible to do something for rooted devices, by since I don't have one of those that I can play around with it's hard to know
  35. R

    Post Illumination bar notification app

There is already a widget that lets toggle this.
  36. R

    Post Illumination bar notification app

I think it would probably be a better solution to create an app that specifically does this. Either by directly controlling the lights, or just putting up a status-bar notification when you want the light on, and then use this app for the actual controlling of the LEDs.
  37. R

Technically it would not be difficult to do, I guess. Why do you want to do that?

You can still override and customize notifications, in a way you cant do on stock. Not sure how it applies to CM though

Thread [APP][4.0+] rList - Shopping list, TODO lists

There are plenty of shopping list apps out there, but most of them suck. And the ones I found that was reasonably good, have way too many intrusive permissions. So I decided to do it myself instead... The app has no ads, and requires no permissions to run. Here are the feature highlights : *...

    Post Illumination bar notification app

Definitely sounds like a battery-save feature. The ROM does not let IlluminationReceiver wake up
  43. R

    Post Illumination bar notification app

The one in "add more apps" is not the same as the other one. If you add it you will get two Calendar entries in the app section.
  44. R

    Post Illumination bar notification app

Did you try looking for it "Add more apps"? The one shown by default is the android system calendar. That is not the same as the Google Calendar, but very similar. If you install another calendar app it may also have only the name "Calendar" but it should still be available under "add more apps"
  45. R

    Post Illumination bar notification app

I'm not sure how that works, but it's possible that it is running in a different process that is allowed to wake the phone. I'm not sure how your rom works but I think it should be possible to tweak the power save feature for different apps
  46. R

    Post Illumination bar notification app

That sounds like a power save problem. If the device goes to sleep, and does not let IR wake up the blinking will stop and the LED will stay in what ever state it has at the time.

Probably not. I don't have that much free time currently. Especially since it is probably a quite small group of people that it would be relevant for.

Can't you get that functionality from this app?

Both apps work in CM. No extra steps needed if you have illumination receiver installed
