Post [FINISHED] Camera LED Flash w/incoming call/sms

Issues with Gingerbread, Nexus S, etc. I'm seeing a lot of issues in this thread around Gingerbread and the Nexus S. Just released a new version that should address those: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14961111

Thread [APP] Flashlight Alerts 1.5, now supporting lots of phones + email + Google Voice

Hey all, You may recall the Flashlight Alerts app I released last year for the HTC EVO and a few other phones: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6855234&postcount=35 Originally, the app would flash your LED when you received a phone call or when you got a new text message. Right...

Really? Not to be a downer guys, but why is this in the Development forum? Can we move this over to General or Q&A please. Once the Development forum starts getting flooded there's no going back.

    Post [APP] 4G Toggle Widget v1.2 (6/18) - w/Sense disabled + SOURCE

Unfortunately, last I checked (V6), WiMAX wasn't working on Froyo. I think nobody has actually ported the HTC drivers over since HTC hasn't released their kernel source yet. Hey, speaking of various ROM's, is anyone using this widget with Damage Control ROM? I got a bug report saying it wasn't...

Post [FINISHED] Camera LED Flash w/incoming call/sms

Really most of the battery usage doesn't come from the flash itself unless you are getting a phone call every 2 seconds. The main battery usage issue for having additional notifications for which there are no standard system broadcasts is that you have to have a service running constantly...

    Post [APP] 4G Toggle Widget v1.2 (6/18) - w/Sense disabled + SOURCE

Pretty sure it has more to do with using Fresh than what screen it's on. I don't have it on my main screen but still have the issue. As far as I can tell so far, querying the state of the radio seems to turn it on sometimes. This is the type of driver issue that could be in some ROM's but not...

    Post HDMI trouble

Hahaha. Yeah, it's stupid. But to be fair a cheaper TV is a lot more likely to incorrectly implement the HDMI spec. Your Bluray player or Xbox might be able to deal with this, but I just don't think a mobile device has the hardware to compensate.

Post [FINISHED] Camera LED Flash w/incoming call/sms

Sounds like a great idea. I'll implement it. Sorry, didn't mean to imply that I thought you were. When official Droid 2.2 comes out it should support this new API (FLASHLIGHT_MODE_TORCH) and everything should be good :-) If you haven't tried the non-Froyo version though you might want to try...

Post Evo LEDs Flashlight application found

Actually LED Desire Light most assuredly has a widget. I have it installed and it's what I use. This is all going to be such a mess once Froyo rolls out with its standardized flashlight API instead of the manufacturer-specific ones that are in use now. I don't know why Google didn't consider...

Post [FINISHED] Camera LED Flash w/incoming call/sms

Android exposes an AccessibilityService API that lets you get at all the notifications that are displayed in the notification bar. However, it's a bit more difficult to implement so it's probably going to take me until the end of the week. Also, it requires a background service to be running...

Post [FINISHED] Camera LED Flash w/incoming call/sms

Are you using the standard version or the Froyo version? Also it's possible that the Froyo ROM you're using doesn't correctly implement the Froyo flashlight API since it's not actually official at this point. Wish I could be more helpful but it is a custom ROM...

    Thread EVO 4G Speaker

Has anyone else noticed the speaker on the EVO is freakin' brilliant? When I am listening to podcasts or playing games it's amazing. I mean, it's no 5.1, but it's like it's got a tiny subwoofer in there or something! In fact, when I listen to podcasts before bed I have both my Nexus One and EVO...

Haha, I wasn't lying earlier when I said I'm working on it. In the meantime, if you want to take a crack at the code and try fixing it, it's available on Google Code ;-) But in all seriousness, I'm debugging it and will post an update as soon as I have a fix or anything useful to report.

Look, this thread needs to die. It has gone so far askew. To answer the OP's question: never going to happen. This is regardless of the relative merits of Windows Mobile or Android, or the fact that one may be better than the other or whatever. The problem is that Windows Mobile is closed...

This is going to seem like a dumb question, but it's been killing me and I just have to know. I've tried searching around for the answer but haven't been able to formulate the proper search terms to find anything. Anyway, what is that compass-shaped icon in the notification bar when you are...

Post [FINISHED] Camera LED Flash w/incoming call/sms

Hey guys, I wanted to summarize the compatibility issues here. The version I posted earlier works on the Droid, Desire, and EVO for sure. It may also work on some other HTC and Motorola phones if they have the same flash API, but there is no guarantee that they do. For the Nexus One, you need...

Post [FINISHED] Camera LED Flash w/incoming call/sms

Yeah, it really sucks. I was looking at some posts by Android framework engineers and they just feel like that wouldn't be a useful feature and don't care about standardizing it. But I am looking at attaching to the OS as an "accessibility" service, which might let the app see everything that...

Post Froyo 2.2 Keyboard in 2.1

I believe this is doable but it'd be a bit of work. Probably would have to start with the 2.2 source and do some hacking since the 2.2 keyboard relies on 2.2 API's for things like voice input.

ERE 27 is used by other phones. The other thing I've never seen before. Overall your choices are going to be detecting based on Android version or getting the UA string for every phone you want to support. The latter is a bad idea since there will alwaysbe browser updates or new phones you...

Re: [HELP] Reverse VNC Connection I know with 4G you definitely get a publicly accessible IP without any proxy in the middle. I imagine 3G would be the same so it should be fine in that regards. As for open ports, any app worth its chops should let you choose which port it listens on so that...

Yeah, this was covered in the Sprint dev guide. Any VideoView in any app will be redirected to HDMI when it is plugged in, unless the app asserts a permission to explicitly block this.
