    Post [ROM][Linux/XBMC] OpenELEC for Amlogic-based TV-Boxes (WeTek Play, M8, MX2)

I made some changes that might break Meson6 support and unfortunately I don't have a MX2 to test it.

Sure. You only need to update the kernel, so you can unzip the attached file to update folder along with SYSTEM and SYSTEM.md5 from 4.97.1 release. This is for MX2 since that's what I'm using. :) You can also try builds posted at xbmc.ru: http://xbmc.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=4587

codesnake, I compiled 4.97.3 from the code you pushed to Github yesterday and I can confirm that the problem is gone. Thank you! :D

    Post [ROM][Linux/XBMC] OpenELEC for Amlogic-based TV-Boxes (WeTek Play, M8, MX2)

codesnake: I have been testing 1080p playback with the lastest build for MX2 and I noticed that while vertical resolution is OK, horizonal is not real 1080 points. You can observe that with cheese slices test patterns - I am attaching a photo. I tried to play with sysfs parameters but with no...

    Post [ROM][Linux/XBMC] OpenELEC for Amlogic-based TV-Boxes (WeTek Play, M8, MX2)

Bruur: I compiled kernel using openelec-4.2 branch from codesnake's repository and unchecking CONFIG_SND_USB_AUDIO option in kernel config. You need to unpack it to Update directory and reboot the box. In case it doesn't work, you can always flash an old kernel back.

Just tell me which version and device you use and I can compile the kernel for you.

    Post [ROM][Linux/XBMC] OpenELEC for Amlogic-based TV-Boxes (WeTek Play, M8, MX2)

Bruur: I recompiled the kernel with no USB Audio support and now it works OK for me, although it's more a workaround than a solution.

    Post [ROM][Linux/XBMC] OpenELEC for Amlogic-based TV-Boxes (WeTek Play, M8, MX2)

codesnake, first of all I would like to thank you for an impressive ROM that gave a second life to my MX device. I also need to report an issue that I observed using latest RC (don't know about previous versions). I am using Mele F10 Pro which is an air mouse/keyboard with built-in speaker and...

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

There are LG G3 and Moto X (2014) system dumps available but AFAIK none of them uses optimized ART as of now. As of now I use optimized bionic (libc+libm) from CM12 nightlies with official Lollipop.
  10. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Done! And a big thank you for maintaining these! Any plans to work on optimized ART? :D
  11. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

I'm still there, I just don't have spare time to maintain this thread, sorry. :( Like Lethargy said, it's not going to happen. Dalvik is deprecated in Lollipop and there is faster. better and stronger ART. Yet if you look at CAF git, you'll see that Quallcomm has already some ART optimizations...

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

This is actually thanks to one patch. Quadrant is an old benchmark and depends heavily on Dalvik performance and I'd even say on the elements that Qualcomm optimized. der_sascha, Step-han, thanks for testing! I'll update the OP with the new version of the patch.

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Hello everyone. Sorry for being absent for a while in this thread. I have read all your posts about the dalvik patch not working in latest CM releases (and some other ROMs). I grabbed libqc-dalvik.a from CodefireXperiment's repo and compiled an updated libdvm.so for you. Can you please test if...

    Post [ROM][Linux/Kodi] EmbER for Amlogic based Tv-Box's {07/28/2015}

No, I didn't try that since I don't have access to my box at the moment. This simply allows you to compile it. Thanks for the warning, I'm glad I haven't posted the builds yet. Can you provide me with links to some information/patches regarding these matters? Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

    Post [ROM][Linux/Kodi] EmbER for Amlogic based Tv-Box's {07/28/2015}

I think you can't simply install Gotham, you need to compile it. To do this, the following change should be sufficient: diff --git a/package/thirdparty/xbmc/Config.in b/package/thirdparty/xbmc/Config.in index d6ccd4a..38830fa 100644 --- a/package/thirdparty/xbmc/Config.in +++...

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

It is faster. In benchmarks. People who use ART say it's smoother than Dalvik despite being inferior in benchmarks and I agree with them. The good news is that ART is progressing fast and in its current AOSP master branch state it is already faster than Qualcomm-patched Dalvik.

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Don't replace these files on a running system! If you do this, your phone will stop working and you'd have to reflash your ROM to make it work again. And you'll probably loose some data by doing so. I'll add this to OP in case anyone needs to ask in the future. :)

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

xboxfanj said he is working on another (open source I guess) dalvik patch but he's experiencing some issues at the moment with it. As for me, I am planning to release updated libs to contain newer qc-opt libraries - extracted from GPe devices' ROMs - but I'm really busy right now and don't have...

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Thanks a lot for investigating that. I would be able to look at them in January since I'm on vacation at the moment. ;) When I tried to use libraries from HTC One for 4.3 I noticed that their libraries had lots of links to vendor-specific libraries (libhtcsomething.so) and I didn't want to put...

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

There's no such thing as "CM Bionic optimizations". They use Qualcomm's patches + some AOSP upstream stuff. I can't see their source code though I think PA already has optimized bionic as it's fully open source and there's no reason not to use it.
  22. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

I ran bionic_benchmarks several times and the new routines perform a tiny little bit worse than the old one. I'll stick to the old ones for the time being.
  23. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Thanks for noticing that! I didn't have time to test it yet but I guess it's time to update the patch soon! I'll also have to take a look at the new GPE's libs.
  24. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

I agree with you. These patches are useful for higher benchmark scores (which is stated in OP) while ART is the way to go if you want smooth UI. You should also know that ART development is progressing very fast and its performance today is almost as good as Qualcomm's dalvik is... I ran AnTuTu...

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

It's been said here many times...: there are no changes in bionic or dalvik code between 4.4 and 4.4.1. I've just downloaded a 4.4.2 OTA zip and can confirm that there are no changes in bionic or dalvik in 4.4.2 either. KOT49E revert ZIP == KOT49H revert ZIP.
  26. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Don't ever do this with these libs. You must not try to replace any file that is in use, most of all libraries that are used by every single process in the system. If you did this, you would have to re-flash your ROM in best case or you'd loose your data in worst case scenario. So don't.
  27. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

There was a problem with XDA's Attachment system. It should work fine now. That's not entirely correct. Although the underlying code is exactly the same, all of the files included in revert file differ by 4 bytes between KRT16S and KOT49E. This results in different SHA1 checksums and will lead...
  28. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

The third file is only for KRT16S (4.4) build. I'll post a revert zip for KOT49E soon. Edit: Revert zip for KOT49E posted.
  29. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

There were no changes at all to libc, libm and dalvik between 4.4 and 4.4.1. That doesn't mean Google are not working to improve those libs - they are although the changes are not ready to ship as "stable". ;)
  30. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

It won't. You need to revert all the files.

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Yes. I don't plan to make and addon.d as this would cause more headaches than it's worth. Moreover, it's safer to have it the way it's now so you can easily revert by simple re-flashing your ROM. Right. Then the difference in size is caused by different compile flags. Nothing has changed in...

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Right. I misunderstood your post. I'll post revert ZIPs for stock 4.4 today and 4.4.1 next week as soon as factory images are available.
  34. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

It's not. Please read Q&A. If you're on 4.4 you need to flash 4.4 revert ZIP, not 4.4.1.
  35. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

A notice for those of you on stock ROM and using these patches: You have to revert to stock libraries to apply 4.4.1 OTA. The patches may work on stock 4.4.1 ROM although I can't tell that for sure until Google releases source code for the update.

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Installd size is different because PSX is compiled with different toolchain (GCC 4.8 or newer, I guess). There's no difference in functionality.
  37. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

+1 this. I added this information to OP. Yes, if you have custom recovery installed.
  38. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Why would you want that? Having 2 ZIPs gives more flexibility - you don't need to flash bionic optimization on custom ROMs and if the memmove patch is merged you even shouldn't. Not related.
  39. K

    Post [4.4][PATCH]Dalvik + Bionic Optimization

That may be a placebo. First of all, comparing 4.4 KitKat vs. stock average AnTuTu result is like comparing the taste of KitKat vs. jelly beans. Second, what you really should do to see if bionic library for Krait gives you any advantage is to run bionic-benchmarks and compare results for every...

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Seems like there's still some room for improvement: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/54822/ I'm not quite sure why CAF didn't port their optimized memmove to KK yet I did that with no problems at all. :)
  41. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Not necessarily. Your ROM may have more optimizations in its code so it's better to stay with bionic supplied with it. You can safely flash dalvik, though. Correct.
  42. K

    Post [4.4][PATCH]Dalvik + Bionic Optimization

You should be aware that bionic optimization compiled into these libraries are Krait-specific and may actually decrease performance of memory-relased operations. I recommend not flashing libc and libm. As for dalvik library I am curious what effect it may have on non-Krait device... please post...

It's not quite possible since the files in this thread contain the very same files as were in file in benchmarks thread. ;) Most of this is true (your posts always explain things which I can't find easy words for! :)) yet you are not completely right in two matters:you can use the newer...

Are there any benefits from using their patches? I can see that Linaro's commits fix some aliasing violations and compile errors with clang - that's all. They reverted their optimized string handling routines. As for their optimized sincos, we already use assembly versions of these from CAF...

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

Have you re-downloaded the dalvik patch after I re-uploaded it yesterday? The first version missed dexopt binary and it caused bootloops. What is your Dalvik score in AnTuTu? If it's about 1800, then the patch it working as it should and the lower score may be due the thermal throttling.
  47. K

    Post [4.4/4.4.x][PATCH] Qualcomm-optimized Dalvik & Bionic libraries

I tested the patches on my custom ROM and it seemed to me that I didn't need to replace dexopt binary anymore yet from your bootloops it looks like we have to replace it anyhow. Thank for noticing! I've uploaded an updated dalvik patch, please try it now. It works for me on CyanogenMod. I...
