Post [EOL] Nexus 5X Bootloop of Death (BLOD) - Andorid Oreo Monthly Security patches & fix

Hi, I have created a small Python script to automate the process of modifying the boot image to reduce the chance of human mistakes and also make it easier to apply the same fix to future versions. You can find it at https://github.com/pawitp/nexus-5x-blod-fix Feel free to use, take, modify, etc.

I haven't had that issue before. You might want to check your Java version — OpenJDK 7 is required (and is listed in the apt-get in the instruction), higher or lower versions might not work.

I'm not going to go in the details, but I guess it might have something to do with the firmware the proprietary drivers were pulled from. See the list at https://github.com/pawitp/android_device_samsung_i9082/blob/aosp-6.0/proprietary-files.txt. It might work if you replace the files listed from...

I'm not releasing any more builds ("one final build" with a large number of changes doesn't sound like a good idea as some problem is bound to occur). You could always release a build though ;). If you do, I'll link to your thread in the first post.

    Post [ROM][UNOFFICIAL] CM 12.1 for Galaxy Grand Duos (I9082/I9082L) (Update 20160402) 2SIM

I'm saying that you need to use a supported recovery to make sure that the partition is formatted properly. Restoring the data or not should not have any effect, but you should try without restoring data first. If it works, then you can try restoring data and encrypting again.

    1) Use the bug report format (see first post) 2) A properly taken logcat will report the error (see first post) 3) Make sure you use one of the supported recoveries (either CM recovery or CWM on the first post). The main cause of encryption failure is a /data partition that is not formatted...

Post [ROM] AOSP 6.0.1 for Galaxy Grand Duos (I9082/I9082L) (Update 20160406) 2SIM

No more work will be done on AOSP 5.1. Might consider fixing it for CM 12.1 if you post a bug report with logcat after a fresh wipe using the recommended CWM (make sure you use the format /data and /data/media option). Encryption working or not depends on if the recovery formatted the partition...

The easiest way is to install it from within CM. Actually you can obtain it as a part of the build process, but I didn't save or upload it because I didn't think anyone would find it useful as it doesn't really have many features and other recoveries can install CM just fine.
