Got the Gtv chromecast on launch day. The remote feels so much better and gives you tv controls. The interface upgrade feels way more modern. I personally love that its a dongle but that's a preference. For $50 you could do a lot worse
Okay further update, I am using a SKW-H01, I flashed all the partitions from the 10 update manually and hung at a bootloop rebooted to recovery after waiting a little while and factory reset now I am fully booted. I didn't read enough or else I would have been smarter about trying an android...
I used a payload extraction tool to open up the OTA file and then flashed each partition via fastboot manually (saw it in a oneplus thread) phone is currently at the boot screen which is much further than it was any time before this, going to give it a little more time before trying...
At this point there won't be another higher version unless kernel source is released (it won't be) that said if Amazon updates it to Oreo+ I'm betting the Go changes will be included if I remember right it's mostly a memory management call in the build.prop
Porting it to the fire 7 didn't involve a rebuild from source, which is what updating it would be and it also doesn't change anything by way of drivers. So in short build a fresh one from source and you should get all the newest patches that said if the project is on lollipop in betting there...
Theoretically if somebody builds the rom yes. The reason we couldn't move passed lollipop was because we couldn't flash a boot.img because it signature checked on start up so we couldn't boot anything that wasn't signed by them. Now that we have the bootloader compromised it should be possible
couldn't get it to move passed looking for bootrom,
I am on a preloader that can fastboot recovery, but holding volume left and plugging it in takes me to recovery, the other button takes me to fastboot
am I on the wrong preloader or am I doing something wrong?
Using a lenovo chromebook that I...
so for some reason I can't get into the bootrom mode
when I hold the left volume button while plugging it in it takes me to recovery, holding the right one takes me to fastboot
I can boot twrp via fastboot so I have to be close if not exactly on the right preloader version
So if what I am seeing is correct the fire 7's bootloader has been compromised (further testing needed it looks like)
Next is an installable twrp correct?
Then we can flash all the normal partitions as usual?
Been a long time and never touched a mediaTek device so I don't know enough to be the person who unlocks it.
However I looked at the HD8 unlock thread and if we have an older Amazon Fire (mines from the first year it was released) and have a twrpable version is it possible that we...
Wow glad you are on the job for this, nobody had even thought of trying to do this before you came along.
Glad there were no less than 2 other threads trying to find an exploit and talking about issues with implementing KEXEC on this device.
Still don't understand
"Because no 3PO release"
Proper ways to phrase that rather than saying wrong and still not providing a complete thought.
"Did you get a chance to update this to the 3PO release"
"Hey do you know if you'll be able to get to this"
"Did you know there was another release...
I mean I can cancel the whole project if you like. However we both have been busy. From the sound of it I assume you've never been busy before, so its okay I don't fault you for it. I just wish I had the amount of time to make posts like this like I used to.
It's been a week, chill. Then you went on to say that all of these unofficial ports should be combining their efforts. The short answer is that maybe they won't ever but it doesn't mean we won't have multiple ports of the same thing
To my knowledge we'll be able to get official nightlies, just not a manufacturer update because it can't pass google CTS without the vulkan api. I've seen official nightlies more broken than the current state of this
okay so i just booted it and heres the changes from AOSP build
Sound recorder are included
The webview starter and ancient search app are removed.
There are a lot of place holders for things that one work
(IE gestures that aren't Double tap 2...
Ohhhhhh I'm sorry I forgot we took time out of our day to provide you with a ROM for free. Also there should be an android file host in the OP too.
Seriously though maybe saying everything you are saying in a polite way because it looks like somebody was more than happy to accommodate
I still plan to update this just real life has been hectic, changes at work and I recently got engaged so my free time has been less than ever. I posted the guide because I know some people would want to make their own before I got to it. Also hopefully it helped people learn a little bit.
If you have twrp you can just install the other ROM on the device, they usually come with the needed firmware bits. Also things like CM13 come with root on board it just needs to be enabled under developer options
